17/17/17 would be pretty much be an ideal situation. But at least as, if not more, important is that the grafts should be taken from a donor area small enough to be able to keep track of. I think it's going to be difficult to find 17 tripples in a small area like that, like IM pointed out. But who knows. if there are like 3-5 tripples in the test, I'd be quite happy already anyway.

2. Unscarred
3. Has 17 tripples

It doesn't have to be exactly 17 triples. Even 5-10 would be plenty enough.

Like you pointed out, we need a compromise solution between all three since it's unlikely you'll be able to completely satisfy all conditions at once.

What is importance of extracting grafts from this 'small' area?

we know there will be 50-51 grafts extracted, it makes no difference if area is 2x2cm..or 2x5cm...

all regeneration that will happen will happen within first 2 weeks, in that time james will have head shaved ..easy to verify donor part..recipient will be pain to wait,6 months
