You must have a really shallow girlfriend and relationship if she would leave you over a gel cap.Comment

They mean to use something around the head, can be a towel can be a hat, can be everything, we don't know if it's for better penetration or just for prevent gel on the face and eye when you sleep, most likely you just have to use the gel and nothing moreComment

Yeah, they already said it was for your convenience, not necessary for efficacy.
Although, this very debate may inform follicepts marketing plan, as if even some of the hardcore forum dudes who obsess about hairloss won't do it then that's an idea that at least the same percentage of the mainstream dude won't do it.Comment

The whole night cap idea immediately makes me think of that IGrow Laser Hair Growth System (http://cdn.images.express.co.uk/img/...gif-432138.jpg). It looks plain retarded but hey, if it works slightly better than minox, why not? lol
Edit: If you want to see what you and your partner will look like together in bed when you're wearing the night cap, just take this photo and imagine that you're the one wearing the thing and not your gf. http://theradome.com/wp-content/them..._07_L_1170.png
If this works only marginally (yes slightly better than minox is marginally), this is obv a deelbreaker for the majority of people. Some people seem to think everybody stresses over their hair loss just like we do but that's just not true.Comment

I have no idea whether this stuff is legit or not (although I think it sounds scammy), but I don't get the resistance to wearing a gel cap. Seriously? Let's assume for a minute that this works as well or maybe slightly better than minoxidil. Think about it: it's a cap you wear to bed 3 times a week. When you're not wearing the cap, you go about your normal routine, wash and style your hair however you normally would. To me, that sounds way more convenient than applying a foam or liquid to my hair twice a day. If you're single, Hallelujah. Wear the cap to bed on those nights when you're not hooking up with hotties. If not, well any spouse or SO worth keeping around should understand this is just one of those things people do for vanity to feel good about themselves. Remind the woman in your life how ridiculous she looks when she walks around in a bathrobe with curlers in her hair, cotton balls stuffed between her toes, and green mud slathered all over her face.
I found Minoxidil made my hair smell boozy. It made it impossible to style my hair the way I wanted. It dripped down my temples and made me look like I was profusely sweating. It left greasy stains on my pillows and the collars of my shirts. When I had it in, it made my hair feel crispy like a really strong gel would and gave it a "wet" look. We all know how unflattering the wet look is on thinning hair. When I applied it in the morning, I had to wait 1/2 an hour for it to dry before going anywhere. Minoxidil is crap. People here really need to get some perspective.Comment

IF this IGF thing really works, then it is a gamechanger indeed. something we never expected, suddenly came out of nowhere. if it works, we can debate about inconvenience later. in 10 to 15 years we will have lab-grown follicles anyway =)
also, it would be nice to hear from the follicept team, if it is really meant to be a lifetime treatment with 3 times a week, or is it applied in cycles, e.g. applying it for one months, then stop for 2 months, and then start again and so forth.
can we assume that once the hair got thick and strong that we can pause the treatment for some months?Comment

yeah, that's true. the more i think about it, probably almost everyone would accept wearing it 3 times a week, i think.

If it worked then you could use something like OC or CB to keep it from falling out again.

Hopefully the cap thing is just for convenience, no good speculating on this stuff. Just trying to keep the follicept guys on their game, cause they're gonna have to have a very easy to use and effective product to get a piece of this market.Comment

I am also speculating, but it seems like they are using the cap as a way to hold the gel in contact with your scalp for 6 hours. Otherwise the gel may slide off or evaporate and the treatment won't be effective.
We can think about a more convenient way of applying it or improving the technology later. I'm very happy to trial this product even if I have to wear a cap to sleep 3 times a week.Comment

Guys lets wait for the human results before we jump to the next step. This thing has only been tested on mice and has worked pretty good but how many things have worked on mice and not on humans.
The science is there to support it but lets wait until the human trials are over and then we can talk about wearing a cap 3 nights a weekComment
-
This article says that they hope to release it to the market this fall
But if that's the case, then when do they plan to do the human trials?
These trials would have to begin very soon and last only for few months (Fall is from September 23rd to December 21st)
So what would such short trials tell us about efficacy and, more importantly, safety of that drug?
Besides, even in rats these results don't look impressive at all. They just grew some irrelevant fluff that you can't really call terminal hair, so I don't know why people are so excited about it?
We saw MUCH better results on rats/mice in the past, and still no human treatments came out of it. It just looks that baldness in mice/rats is too much different from MPB in humans, so I wouldn't be surprised if Follicept fails.
I'm not trying to be negative, just realisticComment
