Great news. Now we need to get the vehicle for cb until this comes out. Thanks again Desmond.

I remember reading about other hurdles.
I think it was Ken Washenik who said we still dont have a "complete model of the human scalp" or something like that, wich complicates the finding of an appropiate delivering method of the cells.
And of course there is the very complex engineering process required for growing hair at the right angle. Jahoda seemed very worried about that last year, on the interview with the BBC.
Maybe Desmond, Boldy or someone else can shed some light on these topics.Comment

Having it grow at the right angle, GOOD CALL!I remember reading about other hurdles.

That may pose some complications.... I wouldnt want hair growing upside down and into my skull!Comment

Ya there is more obstacles to overcome but the biggest one is out of the way and the rate that they are moving at is very good for us
I think people will be surprised at how fast this moves, assuming moderate success in the early human trials.Comment

I reeeeeeally doubt thats the reason. That would be such a relatively minor hurdle compared to actually create follicles and grow hair.
Besides, from the photographs they showed that i remember the results (growth in hair) came near areas of existing hair, NEVER in a slick bald spot. So, its pretty safe to assume that their method didnt really work that well.Comment

Well, Tsuji lab inserted a nylon thread as a guide into each of the hair germs. The resulting (human) hair seemed angled correctly and no cysts were formed (cysts DID form without the nylon threads)

Not sure how feasible that is to do for say 10.000 hairs though. Maybe with some device it can be done as quickly as placing grafts with a FUE ?Comment

Great response! Thanks Arashi, i didnt remember why Tsuji Lab succeded at growing hairs the right way.Well, Tsuji lab inserted a nylon thread as a guide into each of the hair germs. Yeah, maybe scientist can manage to create a device and automate the processComment

Yeah they grew cosmetically correct HUMAN hair on mice, as you can see on the photo's. However they didnt use cultured DP cells (they couldnt culture human DP cells back then), they just used existing DP cells which they took from human donors. Jahoda managed to culture DP cells last year for the first time in history, but they lost gene expression so the resulting hair was not correct like in Tsuji's experiment and it lacked colour and thickness. Anyway that problem should now thus be solved thanks to the Chinese
So, theoretically we're done
It just needs to be shown to work now on human skin. Jahoda already did that last year of course (human foreskin transplanted onto mice), but still, we'd need to see the whole process now, resulting in human hair on human skin, grown from human CULTURED DP cells.

So what does this mean, that we're genuinely 10 years away? Good, i'll be 35, not too old, not too young.Comment

So, it looks like the cure is going to come from the Asians (Tsuji, Taiwan, and now China). They are MUCH more dedicated to their work than westerners who like to take money for no results, overhype things and move at snail's pace with everything.
Asians are much more dedicated to hairloss related science than westerners, despite the fact that there are way less bald/balding men in Asia than in the west.

Well said, most there people are balding as much as the western people and blame the western diet. EIther way I hope they sell it from their country and not through the bloody FDA!So, it looks like the cure is going to come from the Asians (Tsuji, Taiwan, and now China).
