Topcat, it's not that I don't believe you and the experiences you've had. I know a mega session of the likes I was contemplating entails risks with a possibility of failure. At this point, for a couple of reasons being financial and fear, I am going to have a small ht done in a few weeks of about 1000 or a little more if possible from my scalp donor by fut and an fue of nape hair trying for 500. Also my ht doc will take 10 -20 beard hairs as a test to see how they grow. I feel more comfortable with that physically and financially. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for your input. I don't feel you are preaching to anyone. Just disseminating information and your experiences as I have tried to do. I thank you for that.

From what I have read on this forum Topcat is probably the oldest member with more experience than any other person on the forum.

Some choose not to listen too the experienced, others do.

disagree , i looked at people who had experience within the industry , the procedures methods they had done and most importantly what they had done to correct there earlier work , for me older more experienced equates to more happy within there own skin ! why ,well because some are married , settled down ,content, successful, careers, etc , so hair has become less important also money !

What leads us to make decisions are ` impact factors ` when your young, hair loss is `huge ` ( huge impact on you ) when your older , wife,mortgage, etc you care less ( less of an impact ) however to take the time to share your experiences good or bad can only be seen as a positive by most , what has not changed or i doubt ever will is the constant onslaught of `newer,quicker,better` equipment ,procedures that rarely benefit the patient

Highlander when do you ever hear me speak about my past surgeries, you don’t as they don’t matter to me. What matters to me is what I see going on today. All one needs to do is take the time to research recent cases like the patient that went to Canada and ended up with necrosis he thought he had it all figured out or past bht patients who had mega sessions and were severely scarred. I post about what is going on today not about my past as I could care less. It is also what makes me now a good candidate for repair as I don’t even look and if only a few hairs grew that would be fine. It’s just not that much of an issue for me. Watching other guys still getting screwed over is an issue for me I don’t like bullies or people that screw others over for no reason.

Highlander I have read some of your postings and you sound like an imbecile to me and you show you age and inexperience. This is why you really offer nothing to the forums except maybe a good laugh for some and its also why I don’t reply to any of your threads as it is all just nonsense.

This is my personality guys and who I have become. I am just as outspoken in other areas even more so with anything health/nutrition related, politics etc and if you didn’t work in this industry you would find what I have to say helpful.

The clinics don’t like to speak about it so I will. On the other end of the spectrum you have many young guys with unrealistic expectations. Somehow they don’t understand you can’t take 50% of 50% and somehow make 100% out it they just don’t get it or they refuse to believe it. Many of these guys are mentally unstable and are hardly candidates for hair transplantation. They look in the mirror constantly and analyze each and every hair on their head. This is a clinics worst nightmare this type of patient. But that is part of the business being able to psychoanalyze these guys and know when you have to turn someone away not because they don’t have the donor but because they are unstable someone just like yourself Highlander. It’s also why I will give many they do work in the industry credit as many of you do have to earn your money dealing with these guys that constantly need comforting I wouldn’t be able to stomach it. I would turn away so much business that I would have to close up shop. But when you knowingly do not turn away this business then you kind of get what you have coming and of course a few are going to slip by here and there not much can be done about that.

It has happened to me in my own line of work, just didn't see it. So I worked for free and just made a mental note for next time.

This forum and every other hair loss forum is poisoned.

More experience just means they're more likely to hold a grudge against something / someone and thus be irrational. At the end of the day you can count on one hand the number of good HT surgeons in the world. Look at their results and decide for yourself. And apart from that, get on the Big 3.

That's the hairloss industry in a nutshell. Just because you've been ranting on the Internet for 15 years and fell for plugs and FUT doesn't mean shit.

You almost have to have a maternal instinct to work in this business which is something I do not have and I will be the first to admit it. I prefer to just lick my wounds and learn something from my experiences.

Lounk good to hear that you are taking it a little slower. No need to take huge risks and completely destroy your life. Just make small improvements over time, you don’t want to end up like this guy. It’s just not worth the risk of completely destroying your life and this industry is very good at doing that to many for a few more dollars.

Topcat I trust my current ht doc who is conservative in her approach. I'm hoping to end up with a reasonable looking older guy's thinning look. my expectations are realistic. Do not want to risk damage to my physical and financial well being. Hoping for a satisfying outcome. Will post again after my procedure in about a wee. Good luck to all.

Highlander you could be right. But this ht is in addition to the one I had last year of 2100 grafts about 4500 hairs. There will be no chest hairs. Just about 1000 or more scalp donor fut grafts and an fue of maybe 500 nape hairs. The 10 to 20 beard hairs is just to test growth. I also still have those ugly plugs I got in the 70's before most forum members were born. So we'll see what happens. Since my late 20's I've been wearing various hair replacements and I've grown tired of that. Never felt comfortable. Was the original hair club for men guy. Haven't worn anything on my head except a hat for the last year since my last ht. Wife says I look better, younger with hair or hat but she loves me either way. Went to a function a couple of months ago and wore a piece but that's it. Want to be able to lose the hat and be ok even though I like hats. Probably would wear one from time to time even if I had a full head of hair which I won't in my lifetime. Try not to get too pissed off Highlander. Life's not fair but we try to make the best of it even though we get screwed sometimes. Thanks for your concern and I hope you're ok.

Lounk61 question for you ? Are you slick bald or do you have miniaturized vellus hair and stubble in the balding areas ? You might have a chance however slim with a topical program( Minoxidil, ketoconazole) to at least push things forward to at most an NW5 at the very least a slim possibility of hitting an NW4. Once you push the hair you have forward and workout the extent of how far that can go then you might consider the way of the HT...

The 60k was if I were to go with Dr Umar who wants to do 7500 Fue grafts from head beard and chest at $8 a graft.

Closer to slick bald if you don't include the plugs I have in my crown and the ht I had a year ago to get hair on my sides and front to frame my face and cover the plugs in front. But my hair is fine so it didn't amount to much. I used minox for about 8-9 months after my ht last year but developed a severe allergic reaction after switching from liquid to foam so I had to abruptly stop using it. Didn't do much for me anyway. We'll see how next weeks ht goes, but I think my only good shot will be with beard hair which I have plenty of and maybe some chest hair which I also have a lot.
