If you can lose your fear of cholesterol and the sun you could easily double or triple your testosterone levels naturally. You will be leaner, stronger and happier and it will cost you practically nothing and that’s the problem, it’s free.
    Topcat,

The challenge is that in Vancouver there is not much sun for six months out of the year. In your opinion, are artificial sources such as tanning beds going to offer the same benefit? If it has something to do with Vitamin D production I do take in about 3000 IU or D3 daily.

Well Jotronic personally I prefer real sunlight but there are some supposedly very safe tanning beds with specific lights both UVA and UVB with some including red light which supposedly reduces wrinkles along with infrared light. I don’t know much about red light. I do have a full spectrum light box I use during the Chicago winters but that would be geared more towards regulating serotonin/melatonin production. Plus even in the winter I get out in the Sun as the light just needs to hit the retina of your eye to send the right signals to the pituitary gland. A good reason not to wear sunglasses. I don’t see any animals wearing sunglasses maybe they’re smarter so I think I will follow that they do.

I have read quite a few books over the years on Sunlight with John Ott being quite an authority on the subject in my opinion and one of my favorites. It’s all kind of interesting as one of the most potent antibiotics is Sunlight in fact back in time hospitals would put patients outside in their beds in the Sunlight as part of the healing process. But that is long gone once again you get into what is best for the patient and profit and profit usually wins. I have had a reverse osmosis water filtration system for years and one of the add ons they offer is a UVA light as it helps to sterilize and disinfect the water. Kind of interesting and makes complete sense. But what most people do is just the opposite they drink water out of a plastic bottle then wonder where the cancer came from. It’s all crazy when you start to really think about what is really going on in the world.

I don’t know if you remember the movie “Joe and the Volcano” with Tom Hanks. I always remember the scene where all the workers seemed so haggard and unhealthy working underneath florescent lighting which was not full spectrum. People think that it doesn’t matter but it in fact does you just don’t hear about it. It is very sad in my opinion that information that could really help people is suppressed and we are constantly bombarded with nonsense dumbing down the population.

Once again there is just too much to say here from suntan lotion to the average person that spends zero time in the Sun but thinks its okay to bake at high noon when they are down in Mexico for 1 week, not too smart.

BTW the body stores vitamin D so it’s important to do that in the summer. Also you do not want to wash your skin for at least several hours after being out in the Sun. Vitamin D3 forms on the surface of the skin and it takes up to 48 hours for your body to absorb it. So maybe just a slight rinse but certainly not soap except for those areas where it is necessary. Here I will give you a little too much information. Studies have shown when the testicles are exposed to Sunlight testosterone levels can triple, seriously and it makes perfect sense but I don’t guess you will be doing much of that up in Vacouver…………lol…………

Ha! There is a place in Vancouver for such activities. It is a nude beach near the University of British Columbia

Thanks for the info. I'm a believer in Vitamin D and the Sun is the best source but I was interested in your statements about increased testosterone levels. I'll do more research on it but you've pointed me in the right direction. I just hit my goals for fat reduction and I'm about to max out on my strength training (currently in a 5x5 routine) so I'm going to be looking into every natural manner of increasing testosterone for my next routine change. Thanks!

Well since I am 100% natural and have always been I can attest to some of this through experience. Yes I have done a tremendous amount of reading over the years but just like anything else you have people out their writing books that simply do not know what they are talking about and I have wasted plenty of time reading that material some of it makes me laugh so it’s not all bad.

I’m about 178 lbs in this picture and my T was around 1200 ng/dl. I should have it measured again but unfortunately I’m not good with having blood drawn so it keeps me from doing it. I would also add that my homocyteine and C-reactive protein levels were extremely low along with my cholesterol ratio.

I know what doc this guy went to. The doc is considered in the top 5 in the world by many and is renowned for his high density broad hairlines. I always wondered what happened to this guy as his case went silent. If I remember correctly it was a FUT & FUE combo for around 6000 grafts I believe. This is horrifying.

Hey Drybone yes that is me just trying to make a point I guess. I do have some knowledge but unfortunately much of it had to be acquired the hard way. Health and fitness has to be close to a trillion dollar industry and most of what is being sold and taught is a load of crap but people believe it and trying to change a conditioned mind is usually not worth the effort.

Drybone 10 years later at 50 I’m stronger, faster and leaner, most would say that this is not possible. That I should be on Statins and SSRI’s by now but it all depends on who and what you want to believe.

Coming along nicely Topcat. Also agree with a lot of what you say re medications and supplements. HMG CoA reducatase inhibitors (statins) and antihypertensives are grossly over prescribed. Wish I had the dedication to get yoked. What type of diet do you follow? Low GI? Whatever one you follow is certainly working.

Follicle I guess it’s gotten more complex over time why I eat what I eat and when I eat it. It’s been kind of a hobby for me for many years. Becoming leaner and fit is very simple if you know exactly what to do. I’m in the process of dropping about 40+ pounds which I don’t need. Getting your body to be in a very anabolic state naturally is the complex part it’s not as simple as loading your body with protein in fact that has the opposite effect. But as far as just losing body fat if you can stop producing insulin or reduce it’s production, energy will not be stored as adipose tissue. So find out what drives up insulin and you have your answer. Of course sugar is the simple one but there is much more to it.

Follicle I wasn’t going to answer your previous post sometimes it just seems that it’s not worth it. But it’s too bad this happened to that patient as it probably could have been avoided. The problem I have is that by all appearances it seems like the clinic was hoping it would just go away. That is such a poor approach as the appearances of a cover up is often times worse that what is being covered up.

It’s cosmetic surgery and things can go wrong. Nobody can expect things to work out perfectly each and every time. Of course one should always be working towards that goal but with so many variables involved 100% is not a reasonable expectation.

Hairsite banned me due to some of my comments but what is one suppose to think when the original thread was locked a second thread was initially deleted and then when the site seemed pressured to bring it back many of the postings were gone due to a technical glitch. How is this beneficial to the HT community? How does this benefit anyone researching? How is one not supposed to think there is some type of collusion going on? Anyway it should have been handled better.

Yeah I know. I would hope people are not so naive to think it's guaranteed they'll get the result they seek but this is probably the worst case from a top doc I've seen. I know the way the industry works but hell I sometimes feel compelled to highlight these things, because let's be honest, a load of guys out there have no idea about this industry.

Not going to explicitly name the surgeon (I've seen cases swept under the rug (just realised I said rug!) by pretty much all of the IAHRS members at some point) and I generally think he's very skilled and ethical (well maybe he goes a bit too aggressive with the donor use from time to time). However this might be the biggest failure I've seen. I had been following this case and knew it had failed but not to this extent.

What pisses me off is we just can't get any objective information about how often HTs don't turn out well or completely fail and leave people disfigured. 1 in 5 not to expectations? 1 in 10 serious scar stretching? 1 in 100 no growth? 1 in 1000 get necrosis? Would love to know the figures. It seems like a bit of a gamble at times so I'd like to know the odds but we're never ever going to have that kind of transparency in the industry so I guess yeah it's probably futile.

I could actually ask some really tough questions to most of the reps regarding certain cases but I usually don't.

I like the way companies such as Pepsi Co handle issues. They have decided to remove the flame retardant from Gatorade, so they just hold a press conference………hooray……….too bad the product still has nothing to do with sports performance. But try convincing the masses of that with $1.3B worth of product being sold…..lol……either way it’s all very interesting to watch.

My wife made a comment the other day feeling bad for the farmer lady that drove in from Indiana to bring us 30 dozen eggs for about $90. Seems like a long way to go for just one customer. Meanwhile the US alone spent $2.7 trillion on healthcare last year. With $2.7 T you can get people to believe a lot of things but that doesn’t mean they are true with $90 who has time to market a product that can’t be trademarked or patented no matter how good it happens to be.

I posted this to another forum in response to a question and I also think the point is very important so I'm posting it here for those that are researching.

In 1995 I read the paragraph below from a Daniel Goleman book. It was about the why sometimes the emotional quotient can sometimes trump the intelligence quotient. It always stuck with me and I made it part of my own research years later. From my experience it is very important but seldom brought up on the forums.I'm sure the pilot referenced in the story was highly skilled but sometimes you need more than that.

In his book, Goleman relates the story of Melburn McBroom, who was a domineering leader, with a bad temper. The problem with this combination of emotional deficiencies was that he also happened to be an airline pilot. In 1978 as McBroom’s plane was approaching Portland, Oregon to land, he noticed a problem with the landing gear. He decided to maintain a holding pattern as he obsessed about the landing gear. His co-pilots watched as the fuel gauges approached empty, but they were so fearful of their leader’s wrath that they said nothing. The plane crashed, killing ten people. This story is told in training courses to enforce the need for teamwork, open communication, cooperation, listening, which leaders with high emotional intelligence foster.

The same could be said about forums like hairsite and htn. They seem to try too hard to control the information. Personally I resent it and so my being vocal about it has banned me from those sites. They prefer that the community just keep their mouths shut and listen to them as they pilot the aircraft to safe ground for you the patient. It becomes laughable at some point but somehow they seem to keep loading the plane.....lol........amazing.
