The cynical me says, "keep publishing to keep the funds (aka, paychecks) coming also. Cotsarellis basically claimed his team had a treatment or cure and has done nuttin since his claim back in 2010 or so. If they had something we would have known. Now we are hoping Piloxll won't crush our dream...just keep waiting.
It depends on how you take it. You can play the victims card and take everything as an personal offense against you or you can gain encouragement from it and try to better yourselves.
And just because there is no cure means the hair loss field is incompetent. Essentially, trying to reverse hair loss is trying to reverse the aging process, and that is a lot harder than building the next Ipad. Think of all the biomedical technology we have today: genetically modified organism, electron microscopes that can see organelles, vaccines, amputation and transplants. These are all medical advances that we take for granted, we have come a very long way. But even then, people still die. Just like one of the members said on this forum, the lack of a cure does not say that researchers are incompetent, but that it underscores the difficulty of the problem.
As much as you guys condemn people for laughing and not caring about hair loss sufferers, how many of you spent even a day to feel sorry for midgets always getting made fun of on TV or people who have a big nose or anything we consider as out of place. People--human nature--in general have their vices, and that includes you. And people will tell you its not that big of a deal, because thats all they can say. What do you want them to say? "Oh you are bald, yep that sucks for you. Life's over. You will die alone and noone will like you." Everyone is ignorant, because noone has been in everyone's shoes so don't take it personally as if society put all hair loss sufferers into a bag to make fun of them.
Complain and point the fingers all you want, the problem is not going to go away. You can live the next 10 or 20 years in misery or you can try to gain confidence by improving the other aspects of your life. I am sure most of us have times where we are in despair and times where we feel like its not going to hold us back. The cure will come out when it comes out, that could take decades or whatever time is appropriate and no about of self pity will change that. Its your choice what mental state you are going to allow yourself to be in until that time comes.
I am just thinking how good I would feel about myself when I accomplish all my non hair related goals by the end of this new year.
You know, I think if you really wanted to give these guys incentive to release something quickly, you'd take away their salary, I mean funding.... oh wait, thats essentially the same thing.
This hair loss solution is taking WAY too long.

Giving an example of someone who may be worse off than someone else is a slap to the face.
Everyone's problems are relative but too many people dismiss this fact.

People that are not bald simply dont care and men that arent are probably glad to have that advantage so they probably happy that nothing really works just less competition for them. MPB is a very hard thing to quantify because it varies by person and even by how they feel. I can say even one NW level makes you look that much older even if its just a mature hairline so it definitely affects how old you look whether you care or not. Having a lot of hair left myself still I can say a lot of girls do care so I dont think its some made up or exaggerated issue men make up or obsess over for no reason. Even though lots of stupid people say who cares or downplay it. Its partly how much you value looks and certain attributes which varies by person
Think if somebody would laugh at my hair loss, i would shave them bald.
I read something the other day, that our government doesn't want to invest in hairloss products or not much anyway.
Meanwhile religious people like the church and mosks get a funding for their imaginary friend. Just plain ridiculous.
Hair loss is not seen as a condition not by the medical society at large or the general public therefore people with this condition are made to feel as if they don't belong into any sort of group but instead just a laughing stock by society whilst the medical community just gives you that unsympathetic pat on the back and gives you that kinda 'walk it off look' as if you are making a big deal out of nothing, meanwhile there are those "scientists" that just see as cash register that they can withdraw money from whenever they please.
I'm not in any way suggesting that Follica is such a company but there are a great deal of them out there meanwhile the governing groups such as the TGA, FDA stroke their beards and cluck their tongues.
There is good reason for people to be pissed off and if you have been around long enough you will certainly have more than enough reason to be frustrated and disillusioned with the scientific and medical community.
The fact is no one has proven within reason that they have any sort of tangible product which shall relieve us from this situation.
Am I bitter? perhaps!
But you have to admit the hair loss industry is disgrace, if only they would all work together rather than against each other they might achieve something within the next 5 years and I don't mean the magical 5 year number they tend to throw out every few years, if I were to apply the perception of time at which the hair loss community works at then I wouldn't have aged a day in the past 20 years.
Unfortunately, there's a lot of truth to this. Hair loss falls uncomfortably between horribly bad and worthy of sympathy and a trivial annoyance. This leads to an unfortunate lack of empathy. I see that with my own brother and his perfect hair. I only see him a couple times a year and he alternates between "haha, don't you wish you had hair like me" and "jeez, quit complaining it's not important. It's not a big deal."
In my experience that typifies the attitude shared by countless people without hair loss. You can make of fun of them, but it's not bad enough to the point where you should actually feel sorry for them.
The other day a buddy made a similar set of contradictory statements while discussing someone he knew back in college. It went something like:
"XYZ is totally bald now. haha. totally bald. He looks so old. haha."
and later:
"XYZ is such a headcase. He keeps complaining that being bald is making him unpopular with girls. He just doesn't have confidence."
TLDR version:
Society's attitude towards hair loss:
"You look horrible, now quit whining and move on."

To the people complaining about new articles coming out.
NOONE is forcing you to read up on these articles or to watch the latest headline news about something that may lead to a potential cure. They are not making you pay to hear it so if you don't want to hear or see it, then just ignore. What's the point of complaining on these forums every single day about these researchers who you think are so incompetent. If you can do a better job then do it. You are being like those sports fans who yells "YOU SUCK" comfortably from the stands but wouldn't do any better if thrown into the arena.
You might not be interested in these new studies, but it still must be published and recognized because a percentage of the public is still interested, some of them being potential future scientists and medical researchers. If new scientific findings were never spread, then people won't know about science and everyone would become an accountant, etc. Besides, it is not researchers fault that TV networks gives a flashy headline "HAIR LOSS SUFFERERS REJOICE! POTENTIAL CURE FOR HAIR LOSS FOUND" in order to attract viewers.
A scientist who says "this new study may lead to this or that" has to say that, because every research has to have a WHY the findings are important, otherwise why research it at all?
And no, there is no conspiracy. There are plenty of illnesses that have had much more funding and yet still, there is no cure for. Imagine parents of kids who are born and can't think, or eat on their own (down syndrome) or kids who were born with Tay Sachs disease and their brain deteriorate and die before age 5 ALWAYS.
Its annoys me to see these people who spend their whole lives dedicated to research being lambasted on these forums by people who sit comfortably behind their chair doing nothing.
And to end on a positive note. This guy is losing his hair, and he was born with no arms and no legs and he is doing better than okay. Don't let hair loss stop you guys and don't make it a bigger issue than it is.
folic is going to be the one to solve this..they say they are close to releasing a commercial product, now that could mean in 5 years and not 2 like we hope, but I think the derma rolling community trial assures us that there process works...wounding the skin does produce neogenesis of hair follicles
It's interesting to discuss studies and breakthroughs about hair loss, but we have to be realistic, it's not coming any time soon. It's not pessimism, it's just being honest with ourselves.
So, yes, you are right..
No it's not. You're speculating in a direction and none of us know that for sure.
I predict Histogen in a year or two. Not in retardo America of course but somewhere in Asia. And if pilloxil is legit than that is going to be mean!!!
Mabe I'm just being naive but isn't bitmatoprost coming in 2015. Granted it's not a cure all but hey it's something lol. And replicell's product pipeline says its injector will be read by the end of 2014 and their formula will be approved in the end of 2015 I believe. With Japan's new streamlined way of bringing cell therapies quicker to market maybe it will be even sooner. I believe they were gonna make an announcement regarding Japan and when it may be available this month if I remember correctly. With piloxll also being claimed to be released this year (leaving my skepticism aside) maybe we should be a bit optimistic, or at least wait to cry until the end of 2015 lol.
Theyre not even working on hairloss they just show up at the lab every day and diddle mice, make announcents of 'new breakthroughs' every couple years and keeep their comfortable high paying jobs
