You sound like evel knievel about to jump the grand canyon, hardly sound and calm
I can't say i'm not curious, but it's not a good idea to rush into it in my opinion the champ.
I want to try 0.05 mg too for the reported reduction in serum DHT, but following the ethanol route, even with a modest background studying pharmacology as a biomedic, I have many concerns with the idea. A chemist/pharmacist would greatly aid the mission. Here is just a couple of things to illustrate why the laymen shouldn't go nuts on nuts ideas, prefacing that these are coming from a laymen himself.
1) solubility/dissolution are not the same thing. Just because it dissolves, is not to say it has solubilized. How soluble the two solutes are will be determined by how molecularly similar finasteride (C23H36N2O2) and ethanol (C2H6O) are. To me they both look polar, and reasonably similar, which is good news for solubility. I am however not a chemist, and I do not know how to draw Lewis structures or how to determine a molecule's geometry using VSEPR theory. This isn't taking into account temperature, which effects each compounds stability differently.
2) Do we have any idea how alcohol effects finasterides pharmacokinetics (including bioavailability or distribution), like it does so many other drugs?
3) My main queries yet to be answered are: Is it backed by sound chemistry? Is it safe? Can it be used to accurately administer 0.05mg, remembering that it's probably not going to have even distribution in the ethanol when you are pipetting your dose? Proving you can get 0.05mg of finasteride in your solution (remembering that 0.01mg is entirely ineffective), is the ethanol altering the pharmacokinetics of the drug?

Unless you are a chemist or have a degree in pharmacology there is no way you can know for certain what crushing pills and putting them in a solution of other chemicals or fluids will do. The finasteride in question is not designed in soluble liquid form but was instead meant for ingestion and an internal delivery to the bloodstream and not by design made for a topical absorption through the scalp. So to make or create such a solution you are rolling the dice with your health taking an even larger risk in addition to the potential side effects that finasteride might display. As an individual you will have to determine if you wish to do that or not.
Next to answer a previous question pills of finasteride are not sold at .05 mg you will need a pill cutter you can purchase at your local pharmacy for that.Leave a comment:

According to all available research, topical finasteride formulations have had very limited success for the treatment of hair loss. There have been some physicians who have attempted to sell their own concoctions of topical finsareide (Propecia) but I’ve haven’t heard great things about these products. Stick to what works!
thechamp, have you tried RU?Leave a comment:
