Some doctors say that the effects of propecia (1mg finasteride) stay for 48-72 hrs. So they recommend taking it on alternate days instead of daily. That is alternatively to taking a smaller dose everyday.

I think its better just to take a smaller dose than do "spikes" which can increase side effects by a huge "burst" at once.
