Any update from Footymad ....was wondering how he is managing as I too am going through an extremely difficult time now trying to accept , adapt and come to terms with more thinning
I find it difficult to sleep at night
I wake up at 4, 5 6 am and lie in bed until 8 before work
No appetitie , just want to lay in bed all day
I hope things are working out well for the OP ......
I feel I should ensure you are fully informed. My hair loss also began as acute telogen effluvium, but developed into androgenetic alopecia. Presumably that is why you have been prescribed with propecia.
Hopefully though, unlike me, you caught it early enough to reverse. Good luck.
Footymad - thats good news you have. Telogen Effluvium usually reverses itself. I didnt think it was anything to do with androgens though, so cant see why propecia would be of any use?
Its also great that you have taken the plunge and shaved your head....... hopefully things are looking much brighter than two weeks ago.
P.S.....i know you were not keen on nizoral......so head and shoulders with zinc should keep on top of the inflammation/dead skin issue.
Quick update as the originator of this post in case your interested in knowing my current situation with some hope I guess.
The last two weeks have been the worst two weeks of my life, on the verge of suicide. I have been to see my GP a week last Saturday, he put me in touch with the crisis team who visited me twice at my home address to try and get me to reconsider killing myself which did'nt work, I still felt low. I went back to see my GP a few days later. He took some blood to test my hormone levels and arranged for me to have a chest X-ray. The blood test results all came back normal and my testosterone levels were fine. My chest X-ray was also fine and was to check for Cancer or heart desease.
Basically this has been self induced hair loss because of high levels of stress and an increase in androgens throughout my body which in time with lower levels of stress should be reduced and hair loss should hopefully subside HOPEFULLY.
I went to see a trichologist yesterday and paid £75.00 for the privilege of about 20 minutes of his time to inform me the same as my GP that I had acute Telogen effluvium. He told me to continue with propecia and at about the 12 week stage of taking propecia, which is about 6 weeks off, my hair loss should be reduced and hopefully start to return to some form of normality after this time.
Hours after visting the trichologist I got my beautiful girlfriend to buzz my head on a #1 guard for the first time ever in my life !!!
Cant say that I love it but it certainly feels alot cooler and more comfortable, just not sure I like the look but maybe it will take time to get use to whilst hopefully my new hair starts to grow back again. I am also extremely lucky to have such an understanding and supporting partner who encouraged me to exfoliate my scalp to try and remove a build up of very dry dead skin from my scalp. I have to say this felt amazing and hopefully has done some good. We used Liz Earle gentle face exfoliator and is pretty much all natural.
I am now at the stage where I am sort of comfortable in parading around at home with my shaved head but not quite ready to reveal it outside the home and still feel it necessary to wear a baseball cap.
I hope the GP and Tricholigist are right with acute Telogen effluvium.
Thanks again to all those who offer support over the past 2 weeks.
wow your full of shit, should be a politician, bald or not you will excel. oh wow you got a second date with a hot woman and you turned her down wow. i can tell by the way your talking you either have very minimal experience with women or your just trying to be politically correct either way your a waste of time with nothing to offer.
Myself and dave offered our opinions.....this is a forum after all. Maybe the reason you dont have the success you would like with women is down to your poor attitude and chip on your shoulder??

see this is something people tell bald people to make them feel good i still remember recieving similar comments from my mum. and your comments about body image and posture are incorrect i have excellent body image and posture. everybody knows that when 2 people meet it is the attraction part that gets the second date (not the personality) so your wrong in saying the battle is already half won, infact it is already half lost. most girls have it set in their head that they will never be with a bald guy. so when they first see you its already over for you before you have a chance to present your personality. i have met a few girls on the beach before in a hat, got a date, and when meeting them that night at a restaurant or something, no hat, some of the facial expressions are priceless had one girl say to me 'Oh your bald um'. so yeah stop patronising and face reality joober, this is a massive issue for some of us guys even if not for you.

You say 'everybody knows its attraction that gets the second date'. I once had a date with a very good looking women with a really poor and depressing attitude, so i didnt go back........ her looks hadnt changed so i guess personality does play a part (at least for intelligent people).
I am a norwood 5 and shaved bald and it hasnt affected my luck with ladies.
I know that other men struggle more with their baldness and i have a lot of sympathy for them. Thats why its good to know that shaving is an option as is medication and hair transplants for some people.
I think one thing women like is decisiveness and confidence......and i guess by shaving or getting a hair transplant you are displaying a confidence to do what you want. I think its more that men who sit on the fence and try to cling on to the little hair they have, while looking downtrodden, are the ones who ultimately lose out.
um ok footymad hit the nail on the head, basically that is what we are here for. and whats your main problem with going bald Dave52? (why are you here) getting teased from your friends?
So everyoen here who is losing their hair is upset because they can't meet / pick up wqomen ?
Great
I'm here because I thought this was a site where other people who have difficulty accepot hair loss could discuss it like adults
You know the " hair loss often affects a person's self-image, self-esteem, and overall quality of life. "
ah yes Dave52 is still in denial under the impression he can probably still reverse his hair loss. i was totally honest in my problem with being bald dave yet you are yet to state why you have a problem going bald.
lol.welcome to the board
If you would have the decency to read my posts you will see I am NOT in denial and I know that there is no way to reverse the hair loss
Started losing it 10 yrs ago, had 1 HT session doen then .
I hate the fact that I have lost more hair ,
Nothing I can do about it but either accept it or get another HT
