Hi Michael..
watch out for Fin that can be real nasty stuff..
from what I have learned other things you might like to consider..
Nizoral
Use quality hair styling products without harmful chemicals I use something called Form NY that thickens the hair and supposedly has dht blocking ingredients
Saw Palamento
shampoo targeted for hair loss
topical copper
LLT conjecture around efficacy but results are solid for many
derma roller..
and for the thinning areas something like keratin fibbers.
You may know of these already but all the best to you

Propecia - or generic Finasteride.
Rogaine - or generic Minoxidil
Low level laser therapy.
Even without seeing how thin your hair is, you can be reasonably sure that the "Big 3" along with low level laser therapy are your best bet to fight hair loss. The "Big 3" are Propecia (or generic Finasteride), Rogaine (or generic Minoxidil) and Nizoral shampoo. Low level laser therapy doesn't work for everyone, but it might work for you. The only way to find out is to try. From my own experience and from seeing how well LLLT has worked for others, it seems it works best for those with diffuse thinning rather than well defined bald areas or patches.
When speaking of Nizoral, it is very important that you know to only use it once or twice per week in place of your regular shampoo. There are two version (or strengths) of Nizoral. If you get the 2% strength, only use that once per week unless a doctor has specifically told you to use it more often than that. If you use the 1% version, you can use that one twice per week in place of your regular shampoo - unless a doctor has specifically told you to use it more often than that. You also need to make sure to use a good quality moisturizing conditioner almost daily.
It is not my place to talk about the concerns with Propecia or generic Finasteride, but I can say that the majority of the negative hype about this medication is blown out of proportion. I know many men who use Finasteride and none of them have experienced any of these negative side effects. So talk to your doctor at great length about it to make sure you know and understand the factual information about it before deciding if it is right for you. Here is a link to a recording of “The Bald Truth” talk show. In this installment, Spencer and the gang talk about the hyped up fear of Finasteride at length.

Surprisingly, there is also hyped up negative talk about Minoxidil on the web. This is largely BS from people who are trying to steer those who are suffering with hair loss away from proven treatments in order to help sell them on snake oil products that don’t do anything except drain your bank account.Comment

I am so tired of reading these misleading claims that Propecia is such nasty stuff. Go see your doctor and if he thinks you should try it then know that it’s really the most effective drug for hair loss on the market. It works and I have been on it for a very long time.
You can read my story here
Eleven years ago back in 1998 I was an 18 year old freshman in college and I was losing my hair. I had been losing it since about 16, I think but it was becoming very noticeable when I got to college. Styling my hair was nightmare and I was starting to get the comments from my friends. It came to a head one night when I was atComment

Hi Michael
Your best bet is definitely to go with the Fin, Minox and LLT..
The majority don't have sides and the chances are you'll be 100% fine..The only
reason I mentioned sides of fin are that while rare they can be serious so even tho there is a only statistically small chance of that happening to you,you should know so you can make an informed choice if you need to after you commence the drug..I'm not flogging an alternative to fin, just thought you might like to know the facts. They are drugs so you should do your research accordingly.
The other things I mentioned aren't proven 'treatments' they're just things that have shown a degree of efficacy and you would only take them as an attempt to stack the odds in your favour.
Do your research and make your own conclusionsComment

Thanks everyone for the info . The hair specialist was gonna give me 6% minoxidil but i told her im already using 5% so i told her id try propecia and shes ordered it for me should be here in a week or two . I figure i should try it because my hairs still growing well just a bit thin so hopefully if i start on propecia now it'll keep my hair the way it is . Ive been using 2%nizoral twice a week aswell so when the propecia arrives ill have the big three so im hopeful .Well i keep ye updated on how things are going anyway , my brother was bald when he was 21 so im a bit stressed about the whole thing but ive gotta keep positive , cheers again everyoneComment

Unless your doctor has specifically told you to use 2% Nizoral twice per week, you should not be doing that. You should only use the 2% version once per week in place of your regular shampoo. Nizoral can dry out your hair and scalp - and over using it can make your hair loss worsen.
If you are not already doing so, you need to be using a good quality moisturizing conditioner almost daily.
If that is truly the case, and you do not have bald spots or patches, you would likely also benefit from using the laser comb.Comment

i tried propecia and i just had to quit on it a month ago because of loss of libido. i must say i had a lot of expectations and i really think when i was on mercks one i was seeing results, i was able to see myself at mirrors without noticing my loss, but after the first 3 months i decided to swing over generic because of the exagerated difference in price. in my opinion being on generic is when i started to experiment the side effects, even i think my hair lost what had gained. first i tried half dozing but at the end i just had to make the sad decision. now im just with minoxidil, llt and started biotin.
i think with propecia everyone reacts different and its each one decision to try it. id like to give it a try some day.Comment
