I'd honestly rather be dead than deal with hair loss

No!!!! it's NOT normal to be 40 and losing your hair. I know and have a lot of friends in their mid 30s and older who have full heads of hair, with NO sign they will ever lose it

I won't actually commit suicide I'm too chicken shit to do that. It's just sending me down this spiral of depression that I can't seem to get out of. And it's not like I'm staying at home locked up like a hermit. I go out and party every weekend and I don't want to brag but I've been with a lot of women (not that that's a measure of anything, just saying it for context). It just sucks so bad when you're dressed to the nines and you go out and all you can think about is your gawd damn hair loss.
No, balding in your 40's IS actually the norm. 2/3 start losing their hair by the age of 35. Quit being such a whiner. You got to live your life, your youth with hair. A lot of us never had that luxury. I started to lose my hair at 17, I was in high school for god's sake. Can you imagine the pain? I was completely bald in my third year of university. So excuse me if I'd just like to slap you on the face you crybaby.

You can thank my NPD and BPD for that.
You're right. My vanity never allowed me to mature and now that I'm losing my hair it's a great situation I'm in.

If that's the case why are there men in their 40s and older with full heads of hair?
Man I'm sorry for what happened to you. I can't even imagine that at that age.

At 17 it's death, but not at 40. I can't imagine all the things I would have been able to do with my life before I hit 40.

But at 17? You didn't even have the chance to start your life. Of course there are men with full heads of hair at 40, but they're minority, therefore suffering from hair loss is the norm at that age.

You know what percentage of the masculine population starts to go bald at 17? Something like 5%.

Dang only 5% at 17? I must have been really screwed for 13. And your right about how it can be a death sentence Fred, because no one is going to give you a chance in this world. Still, I haven't done too bad and you just have to strive to be the exception.

I had a transplant with the same guy. My loss was an a pattern though [Restricted only to the front] so while my hair loss looked extremely advanced at 21 [The entire front third gone] luckily the transplant was able to mask most of it.

I totally agree. If a person can't even handle hairloss in his 40s, how can he withstand the other tough things in life. That guy is a pathetic whiner.

Gee, thanks for your input and insight. I came here for support and I get bashed, I really appreciate it.

And I wouldn't be as upset if all men in their 40s and over lose their hair, but we all know that's not the case.

9 out of 10 you use creatine or AAS.
                        >_> Pretty far from unheard of. You only need half-decent genes. Maybe at 48 it would be unusual but 38? AAS means steroids right? Lol... how are you going to compare creatine to steroids? Is there even any evidence that creatine helps with muscle building?

I don't understand posts like this.

That said, I'm jealous... I noticed my hair loss at 26.5, I can't really hide it now (just turned 28), and I'm barely 5'10" in the morning.

Ya I wasn't too sure what he meant by AAS but I assumed it was steroids which I've never done/taken.

Apparently there has been talk that creatine does lead to hair loss so I've stopped taking it just to be on the safe side.

I think I came across what AAS stood for once, but I don't remember. Anabolic Androgen Somethingorother? Steroid users are just kind of sad, imo... compensating for horrible genes by taking synthetic T which their body wasn't built to handle much less produce. The weirdest thing is a lot of them actually LIKE that it shrinks their nuts... they say it makes their dicks look bigger by comparison *facepalm*

Didn't know that about creatine, although I guess it doesn't apply to me.

This thread is why the medical world doesn't take hair loss seriously. The low 20s are saying it's normal for men over 30 to have hair loss. Come on now, how do you think every man got there in the first place? They all started at some point and most in the early to mid 20's. So this guy started at 30 and he is now 40, big deal, he is still dealing with the same thing that you all hate about yourselves. Most of the images of HT's on top of these threads are of men over 30. Growing old bugs everybody. If I was 6'1 230 I wouldn't care about my hair at all but that doesn't mean he shouldn't care. I would shave my head no matter what hairline I had but this mpb still bugs the heck outta me. Nobody can tell anybody how they should feel about something. I do feel bad for the younger guys now with social media and the photographed obsessed world now where everybody has a camera everywhere you go.
