The 50 Graft Test Procedure

LOL. Yeah even better: let's implant 25 grafts in the middle of his forehead, how about that ? Come on Didi, you can't expect ANYBODY to have 25 grafts implanted in that area you selected.
If good photo's pre-op are being made, then it should be a piece of cake to differentiate between the hairs that were already there and the hairs that got implanted. Just look at the JJJR's analysis of GC83UK. This one is going to be 10x easier, even if there are some hairs already.Comment

Dunno. Man why is this guy still in the Moderation queue, I hate forwarding questions/replies all the time. Come on Winston, get this guy's account approved.Comment

What do you think, JJJJrS ? You've said:
How important are these 2-3 cm2 ? If good photo's are being made, the grafts could be a bit more apart, right ? I don't see why they should be that close together in donor ? Or am I missing something ? In recipient it would indeed be good to have them rather close together but again, would it make any difference to have 5 cm2 instead of 3 cm ? As I see it, the only reason for having them close both in donor and recipient is for ease of analysis, right ?
Let me know and I'll send forward the 'requirements' to Kristel.
According to HASCI, they can generally transplant ~35 grafts/cm^2 for the first pass so an area of ~2 cm^2 should be enough in the recipient for 50 grafts. In this case, you would like to find as close to a slick-bald area as possible, just to minimize any confusion between the transplanted and pre-exisitng hairs.
The donor is less critical. HASCI should use as much room as they need without endangering regeneration. I think an area between 2-5 cm^2 should be fine. The key here is to extract a mix of 1-hair, 2-hair, and 3-hair units so we can evaluate the results based on each type of graft.
The important thing is that they take plenty of before an after photos and that the patient regularly shaves the monitored area which will be much easier to do if it's smaller.Comment

It took about 2-3 weeks before I got my account approved, after sending several e-mails to forum admins asking if perhaps something was wrong.
I have no right to complain at a great forum that is free of charge, but I think this massive moderation delay for new members is perhaps unecessarily hampering the growth of this important community.Comment

Who is actually organizing this whole thing? the photography and what not....
We only have one shot at this, so let's make sure we get this done and documented to be fool proof.. this needs to be make or break.Comment

For anybody who IS interested: yes the procedure is going down monday, I've forwarded JJJJR's suggestions to Kristel. Our test person though is getting really frustrated that the admin here, Winston, still hasn't approved his account and is considering opening the result thread on another forum for that reason. I've send Winston a PM but got no reply. Maybe if other people will do the same he'll finally wake up.Comment
