Reading things like these always freak me out a bit as I'm on RU. Man, if only I could contact the researches that were researching RU at the time to ask why they didn't push through... I tried searching them on google and even on Linked In, but didn't really find anything. I just hope the reasons for not pushing through had to do with finances and not with efficacy or safety issues -
Google is your friend:
"RES-440, a carboxylic acid ester of hydroxyflutamide, is a synthetic, non-steroidal compound and represents one of four structural classes of topical anti-androgenic compounds in the RestorGenex portfolio. Management believes RES-440 is the first topical anti-androgen engineered for rapid deactivation by hydrolytic enzymes near the site of application to a single inactive metabolite, thus, sparing internal androgen sensitive tissues. Our data demonstrate that RES-440 is a very potent anti-androgen. RES-440, the expected major metabolite, has no detectable anti-androgenic activity. To date, no other topical anti-androgen has been developed and marketed successfully. We believe the root cause of this failure has been due to the systemic safety issues that arise with locally effective doses. " - http://www.restorgenex.com/products_res440.cfmLeave a comment:

Anyone now bit more info what compound that is?While searching online for more info about RK-023, I came across this press release about a Androgenic Alopecia Therapeutic Companies and Drugs Pipeline H2 2014 Review Research Report: http://www.cnbc.com/id/102280929#.
It mentions some drugs that at least I had never heard of, such as RES-440:
You can buy the report here: http://www.rnrmarketresearch.com/and...et-report.html, but it's 2000 dollars.Leave a comment:

Because he hasn't done anything. Let's put it this way:
He made headline news, there were claims that plans for human trials were already underway and that... wait for it... a cure could be here within 5 years, LOL.
Well, its been about 4 years and we haven't heard anything about human trials.
I hate these false promises.Leave a comment:

We dont really need to have it on the market, most important is its effectiveness. If better than minox, then we can buy through Kane, but we really need to know the concentration coz its expensive.Leave a comment:

I don't put much faith in Joe's timeline. 12 months doesn't seem realistic for anything to hit the market, but I'm glad they're both hearing positive things about the trial. Can't wait until next month. The bimatoprost news sounds like the best thing I have heard in a long time, this is such a good feeling to think that there is a drug, which, fingers crossed that the rumors are true, will be available in the near future! Wow, to get Spencer and Joe to speak so positively about it really means a lot to me.

It seems spencer has believed in the drug for quite some time. If the results are positive in January and we know the concentration then I will be starting next month with Bim from Kane even though it's $800 for a gram.Leave a comment:

That was only a 6 month trial was it not?I dont know man. Aderans results after a big phase II using differents formulation and tweaking their culturing method were really disappointing.
Also the pilot trial response rate was only 60%. Same as Aderans
My only hope regarding replicel is that culturing Dermal sheat cup cells may be easier than culturing DP cells.
Replicel is really up in the air, and we wont know of any kind of results until a year into the trial so this time next year.
We can't call it a failure but I wouldn't get my hopes up either, the theory sounds good but we have to wait until practical evidence and a full-out trial(phase II, not just the 6 month safety phase) is complete.Leave a comment:

isnt this trial entry very misleading?
it states they are still recruiting patients. nowhere it states they already started.
to me this looks like everything is halted. i am wrong?Leave a comment:

Nice post and cool to see it all laid out. I have hope for a few of these myself.
I still am of the opinion the actual 'cure' will resolve itself in time and will end up being hair cloning through stem cells. It won't be cheap or widely available when it comes out, but it will be a permanent and probably near perfect solution.
This is one of those things you won't specifically read about because much like a lot of stem cell research it is going ahead and adding little pieces to the puzzle every days much research done in universities and labs won't come to light until a breakthrough occurs and it may happen in a lab not even trying to regrow a hair. A key will be discovered, doors unlocked, and the many things that seem impossible today will suddenly be reality. True story.
I say we make clones of ourselves, lobotomize them, grow them until sufficient age and then rip the entire area straight off of this creature and transplant all the hair we want to our backs and asses. Oh wait, I mean heads.
Game on.Leave a comment:
