What a wonderful group of friends we have here.

With regards to funding, I'm happy to put in whatever we are short of. I can't let this great community down. We are getting our foot in there no matter what

A big shout out to all the ppl that have donated generous amounts and those that did their best. A lot of our sufferers are quite young and I fully understand you're financial issues.

        Love you all.

            This is great reading!

Unfortunately I`m not gonna be able to put in to much now since I have donated pretty much all I can spare to the Sherpas of Nepal. If I can somehow dig up something, I`ll chip in.

Good luck Desmond! Hopefully you`ll get some answers that will bring a smile on the faces of all the good people here.

Donated as much as I could. Keep us updated with the current amount donated if possible Desmond, so we know when to stop/when to push for more.

                    Journalist accreditation

Desmond! Don't know if this topic has been discussed already. But here it goes.

I work as a journalist and I'm thinking it would be awesome if you did some propper interviews with the speakers at the conference, as opposed to just sitting in the audience just taking notes.

The way it works is you just e-mail the organizers saying you want media accreditation to do some interviews for the BTT-forum at the conference.

Ask to get any media kits that they might have, with information about who is who and how to reach them.

Then contact the speakers you wanna interview. They might be on a hectic schedule so it's always great to book them ahead of time for interviews.

For the interviews all you need is a dictaphone or even better a video camera. The camera doesn't even have to be of good quality since this is just for us guys here at the forum. If you don't feel comfortable with a video camera you can just type the interviews out for us.

Obviously the benefits of you doing real interviews are that you can ask all the questions you want in a relaxed setting, do follow up questions, in depth questions and so on. Instead of sitting in a sea of researchers raising your hand.

Also the scientists listening to the speakers are not necessarily interested in asking exactly the same questions as us baldies. So we might get more informative answers this way.

                    What do you think?

                    Good luck!

Let's come up with a good list of questions once the funds are raised

I too think it might be a great idea but it's up to Desmond of course. Although we're indeed putting in our money, doing interviews never was part of the original mission (which is: attending to the important speeches and feeding that info back to the forum). If Desmond feels comfortable setting up interviews, great. If not, let's respect that too.

Well, he did say he's got access to a very expensive camera...

Ofcourse. This is just a suggestion. Some people might be shy about doing that sort of thing. Just the fact that he is going is awesome. If he wants do do some interviews that's even more awesome.

And Desmond, noooo pressure what so ever regarding the interviews if you decide to do them. It doesn't matter if it looks like/and/or sounds like shit. The only thing that matters is the information we get. I think most guys here will agree to that.

And being a journalist myself I can tell you that researchers/scientists are the best people to interview. They are totally in to what they are doing and love telling other people about their research. And remember, they are just regular people who are a lot more nervous than you about the interview. So no need to feel intimidated.

And most of all you don't need to be an expert on every topic. Or any topic for that matter. The whole purpose of a journalist is to ask "stupid" questions. And really, no question is too stupid.
