I just found this article: http://www.gizmag.com/hydrogel-skin-...e-burns/20876/. What's interesting is that they only use water and dissolved dextran, a sugar-like polymer. So maybe similar to what Hellouser is proposed with the dermaroller, we could set up a community trial for this.
Hydrogel forms new skin and hair follicles

They have a fb page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Scar-...20446228073161
It is being updated irregularly. Maybe we can ask Qs?Comment

As far as I know...
The specific hydrogel they used in the study, which allowed for wound healing with minimal/no scarring, even on very severe wounds, also induced new follicle formation in mice. However it seems hard to make.(http://www.pnas.org/content/suppl/20...5973108_SI.pdf).
They have now completed/are completing an animal study on pigs which will be presented in about 5.5 weeks. (https://aiche.confex.com/aiche/2013/...per337043.html). The gel could go on the market for veterinary use within months, though I am skeptical. (http://inbt.jhu.edu/2013/07/09/burn-...eterinary-use/)
After this they are moving onto human studies. If it goes for sale for veterinary use next year sometime, maybe we could find a source for it. Perhaps wounding + this particular hydrogel could work like Follica.
Also, here are patents:
I know there are mention of growth factors, but I don't think they are included in the formula (though I read something about VEGF increasing cell recruitment or something like that).
And finally, here is the study:

Actually I even see that some sort of hydrogel is even sold at Walgreens. Not sure if it's the same thing though: http://www.walgreens.com/q/hydrogelComment

Hydrogel means a gel that is primarily water. The gel in the trial is porous like a sponge in a manner that new cells can move into it easily. The gel is also digested by the body as well, I think. There is no reason to think other hydrogels would work the same. I posted the instructions for how to make the proper hydrogel from the study. We could try to have a lab produce it, or wait until it goes into veterinary and look for a real supplier at that time. That said ,they have stated new hair follicles form where the skin grows back, so I think we should try harder to find someone to create this for us.Comment

I'd bet a pharmacist could compound this so ridiculously easily. I will inquire and I would be willing to trial this too.Comment
