I guess i'll just have to wait it out until in19/20 to start fin or duta.
Do you know if there's any correlation between having alot of body hair and losing head hair? I have hair all over my chest and stomach and getting hair on my back and basiclally over my whole body. I'd trade all of this body hair for my headhair back without any doubt. Lol.
I feel for you man, like you said atleast i have some options available to treat it when i get a little older. To start this young knowing that there's nothing you can do to treat it must have been devestating.
You don't need to wait till you're 20 to start fin/dut. You could probably start now and be fine, and in fact that will be MOST effective for your hair. But if you're really concerned, age 18 should be fine. So as soon as you graduate from school, your graduation present should be a year's worth of Proscar! In fact, with a typical response to finasteride, you may never need HM.
I wish had done that.Comment

The other "advantage" is that I never lived in the U.S.A., the U.K. or Canada. From what I read and hear, these countries are a hell-on-earth not only for bald but also for balding guys.Comment

I see very often bald or balding men with much facial and/or body hair. It goes also in the other way around, men with much hair often have little facial hair. It seems that there is a correlation but I am not aware of any study establishing a link between the two.Comment

Yeah, there's likely a bunch of different androgen related correlations. The men on my mother's side are hairy, with thick facial hair and extensive hair loss. Not so on my father's side. I'm the only one of my brothers with hair loss and the one with the very thick facial hair. Something like prostate cancer is also likely correlated with hair loss, increased body hair etc.Comment

I would hold my judgement on that one. Teens are notoriously sensitive and overreacting when aesthetics come into play. I see it in my daughter also (she is about your age).
It should not. And with the means available even this day we have this conversation, for the most part it is up to you to not let it mess with your confidence. Also, I don't know how things are in Sweden, but in continental Europe there seems to be enough tolerance (or indifference if you wish) about baldness to spare your confidence.Comment

I think you are right, anglo saxon countries are the worst places for bald or balding men, continental Europe isn't as bad...
then again Asian men don't really go bald so it must suck to be the one who is balding
which country you hail from?Comment

Lucky again. In my case, especially when MPB started kicking seriously in my early 20's, it was not just the hairline but aggressive hair loss in a diffuse NW7 pattern. Ouch!
Indeed. Just keep an eye on it so that you can act quickly in a few years from now. You will likely never go bald in the way it happened in my generation. Plus, perhaps you will have the opportunity the completely restore your hair before you hit 30.

I work at Dr. Cole's office here in Georgia near Atlanta. Dr. Cole has degrees in both chemistry and biology. His daughter has a PhD in chemical engineering. Dr. Cole is in touch with the finest minds in the world related to research and advances in the art of hair transplantation. A few days ago, I asked Dr. Cole about the claims by various doctors related to them getting 100% follicle regeneration in their patient's donor areas. He told me, the person who could actually achieve that and prove it would be a billionaire. State of the art hair restoration surgery technology as of June 2013 is enhanced by regenerative and healing products such as ACell, PRP, and ATP. ACell is an amazing product and has been approved by the FDA as a regenerative product. It seems that many doctors don't believe that and put organ and follicle regeneration in the same category as time travel and teleportation. As of 2013, FUE hair transplant patients can get some follicle regeneration using ACell in their donor areas after surgery. We have seen regeneration varying from 10% up to around 70% with the average being around 49%. In hair transplant surgery, follicle regeneration offers the hope of expanding a patients donor supply. The top doctors are also blending beard hair into the recipient areas with great success. Beard hair can commonly be twice as coarse as scalp hair and twice the hair shaft diameter provides 4x the coverage. So progress is being made. Don't be fooled, when 100% follicle regeneration is available, there will be extensive documentation, results photos and the "inventor" will be an almost instant billionaire.

Thank you!
Has Dr Cole been in touch with either Dr Gho or Dr Nigam about their work and research?Comment

Also, Dr. Nigam has been posting some very interesting stuff to say the least, but practically everything he is doing is illegal in the US.
It would be nice if Dr.Cole would get ahold of Nigam and discuss his "donor doubling" procedure...Dr. Cole has nothing to lose by just a conversation.
That all being said, I appreciate having Dr. Cole here in the USA, as he seems to be the only doctor here that is interested in improving hair restoration techniques and in return improving the quality of life for many.Comment
