Dude, my money's on Japan! They're advancing in regenerative medicine like no tomorrow!!!Leave a comment:

The more I read into hair loss cures the more I see the next best treatment coming out of Asia. Europeans suck, if you compare Asian research into regenerative medicine to Europe/America its like comparing the bullet train to the steam engine.Leave a comment:

About 6 months ago though a company called Axiogenesis finally managed to commercialise a technique to produce iPS cells in sufficient numbers and has started operating in Japan! Here's the link to their website if you wanna have a read:
This technique was discovered by Prof. Yamanaka from Kyoto University Japan back in 2006 and actually won the Nobel Prize in Medicince for this ground breaking work in October 2012
This was very good news in my opinion when I read it
Why you down'n on Aderans all of a sudden bro?Leave a comment:

Kiwi did you read the thread someone started yesterday about looking for a way to remove hair transplants because his hairloss had progressed and it looked aweful!
that really worried me
I think everyone should think very carefully about a hair transpolant until we are at least 80% sure hair multiplication is coming sometimes in the near futureLeave a comment:

So, what's everyone's plan of attack?
If all speculations are correct, we are pretty much left with Histogen coming out sometimes in 2016 and if that doesn't really give us as much coverage as we hoped for then our last hope is either Tsuji/Lauster sometimes after 2020!
Looks like it's a long road ahead!
That's assuming that nothing happens soon.Leave a comment:

Well Yes and No.
Team Tokyo did two separate studies:
1) Hair regeneration using Dermal Papillae and Mesenchymal stem cells found in mice skin
2) Combination of human Stem cells and mice Dermal papillae which was made in a petri dish and then implanted using FUE techinque + nylon thread to direct hair in the right direction!
The second part of this study is what Aderans was never able to achieve! Tsuji lab made hair germs in the lab, implanted it and watched it grow and it did!
Aderans on the other hand, couldn't pull this off! instead they were injecting these cells (DP,etc) blindly into epidermal layer hoping it will combine with the existing hair follicle and switch it back on.
So in short, Tsuji creates brand new follicles whereas Aderans tries to create chimeric follicles (a hybrid of DHT-resistant & DHT-sensitive hair follicle).
Since hair germs yielded 70% hair density all growing in the right direction then the science is sound and can be performed today. Where Tsuji labs is stuck is how to reproduce 3000 of these hair germs to completely bring a NW7 to NW1...that's where advances in induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS cells) are necessary to bring this technique to fruition.
iPS cell techniques involve converting some of your normal skin cells into stem cells that can be combined with other types of stem cells to form a hair germ.Leave a comment:

Also, isnt Aderans essentially the same as what team Tokyo are doing but with DP cells?Leave a comment:

They have gone completely silent on their website since January 2012, with no updates for over 15 months! If we don't hear from them by July this year, we can be pretty sure Ji Gami wasn't doing anything extraordinaryLeave a comment:

Yeah its in the "our news" section - but I dont have much faith in the timeline they show - so this time next year we will be a few months away from curing hair loss? Lol we'll see.Leave a comment:
