Yup - some of the posters on this forum just haven't been around long enough to see through the bs. In time, they'll learn.
Dude tell me about it...I've learnt so much the past 10 months about the hair loss industry!
A lot of researchers involved in alopecia research get way too excited early on without having any hard data and run around the media networks screaming cure!
Look at:
- Costraelis (Follica, PGD2)
- Washenik (Aderans)
- Replicel CEO
- Nigam (he's sieving through these forums looking for guinea pigs to test his ideas by making extremely bold claims)
You have to really focus on the small details to be able to spot over-exagerations and loose predictions!
this forum is such a rollercoaster of love and hate.
every 3 days everyone is either super mega trippin' on how close we are and then super mega pissed at how far away we are.
KEEP CALM
AND WAIT FOR
THE GODDAMN UPDATE!
This is worse than heroin addict trying to cut down.
I totally agree. And the negativity is always there in downright copious amounts. Spencer is really right when he laments about all of the extreme negativity on these forums.
What I want to get to the bottom of is whether Aderans' treatment will be able to immunise hair follicles from further loss. So many people on these forums are completely oblivious to what a miracle that would be if it turns out to be the case - I mean, hair transplants will be 'future proof' for the first time ever!
I doubt it will have an effect - if you held the potential cure for baldness you'd probably get a million emails a day. If you were in their shoes you'd probably just delete them all and make everybody wait for the updates.
I'm okay with that personally. I'd rather them spend their time working on a cure then indulging every balding man under the sky :P

It really bugs me when people in this forum don't look at the info that's on the rest of the thread. You BIG question has been answered by Dr. Washenik HIMSELF in the radio interview that Desmond posted. He clearly says that Ji Gami will not at all be a stand alone treatment, it will be best used ALONG WITH CURRENT TREATMENTS THAT ARE USED FOR MAINTAINING HAIR as well as hair transplants. He even says we'll hopefully have better treatments for maintaing by then. He's hoping for new treatments just as much as us!
This is the proof you need that Ji Gami WILL NOT MAINTAIN YOUR HAIR. Why would he down play it's potential!? Some guys are calling me negative for saying this but I don't see how it's negative when it's based on FACT. Come on guys, there's being optimistic and then there's what some of you are doing which is like putting ya fingers in ya ears and loudly going "lalalalala" cos ya don't wanna hear the truth.
It sucks big time, I wanted Aderans to bring something useful to market just as much as all of you guys but given the info that Dr. Washenik has realeased in recent interviews/presentations I can't personally see that Ji Gami will do much good for many people - some of the 40% of 'good' responders may be happy with the regrowth they get but if Ji Gami doesn't maintain then who knows how long that regrowth will last. These are the answers we DON'T have - how long will effects of Ji Gami last and is it compoundable. According to Dr. Washenik even he does not yet know the answer to these questions.
The other thing we don't know is release date - again Dr. Washenik says he doesn't know either.
I think most ppl remember pretty well how enthusiastic I was about Aderans! I mean the science is pretty sound with real potential for DHT-immunity...but that is all in theory.
Now, here's Dr. Washenik who has access to all the CLINICAL results of over 400 trial subjects over the span of 5 years (i.e. HARD FACTS) and he sounds completely flat! This radio interview really tore me to pieces!
What really destroyed all my hope was when he said: "Aderans is simply an add-on to our current therapy...finasteride, minoxidil and transplants"
I really wanna stay optimistic, believe me...I'm desperately looking for some signs to still have faith in them, but there's not much out there on Ji Gami anyways...
On top of that, I've been doing a bit of research on how they conduct their trials...here's the big slap in the face: their last follow-up session in all their Phase 2 trials does NOT exceed 12 months!!! How can they not wanna know the staying power of this breakthrough treatment! <SIGH>
Desmond, your words- "I really wanna stay optimistic, believe me..."
I believe you of course. That is OUR only choice, not unless we would prefer to be miserable. I will not accept misery as a way of life. You know as well as I do that theses companies ARE putting a lot of time, money and effort into finding a VIABLE solution/treatment to hair loss. The companies that we are focusing on are no where near being close to 'fly by night' businesses.
The waiting game IS a terrible thing, i know.
You know what Spencer says about dealing with what we have for the time being. Stay strong Des'
