Nuhair is a herbal supplement in treating hairlost. Man I really think the nuhair is interfering with the propecia. The active ingredient in nuhair that inhibits DHT is saw palmetto. I read in a scholar paper about saw palmetto interferes with finasteride. Is that why Im not seeing the negative side effects of propecia? At the same time, im seeing lots more shedding. My gf has also commented my balding is getting worse. I remember when I took propecia alone (16 months), my hair shedding was reduced and I actually seen thicker hair come in. I had side effects, which was also an indication that the medication did something to my body!

Im giving up on Nuhair starting tonight. Going straight propecia...... However on the good side with taking Nuhair.....my gf commented my *beep* was REAL good last night. Well say bye bye to good loving

Still have the burning sensation with my scalp, dnt know if anyone has any suggestions. Its in certain patches. Not all over, no inflamation is visible and i am using nizoral. A constant reminder of the state of my hair.

i think your overdoing it with the fin, niz and minox.
Side effect of overusing niz is hairloss too.

speak to your doc, but i still think you should get off fin asap.

Seems like there's a few of us in the same position.
I'm currently on .5mg fin per day. Since starting fin last November my hair feels like it's been obliterated. Have read a bit on other forums about fin causing a hormonal imbalance resulting in telegen effluvium. I wonder if this can be the case.
Have you guys been to your docs to get any blood tests done? I'm scheduled to go this week. Want to see testosterone dht and thyroid tests ideally.

I am shedding like crazy. Woke up today with 20 pieces of hair on my pillow!

been taking propecia for 10 months already and been on nuhair for month and a half. I wonder if nuhair is interfering with the propecia.

    sigh

i think taking a pil every other day as a start and then chopping up the pill into smaller mg's would be what you would have to do. Do all this on 3 weeks to a month eventually stopping.

But again like the above post mentioned it could be something else, but have my own theory and have explained it, your better off going to a doctor and explaining this hyperandrogenicty to him and see what he says.

The sebum and itch should have been crazy if you were not on nizoral, the niz is keeping that under control for you.

Wonderdog: It sounds like your hair loss is not from MPB or finasteride, but from another cause. Rapidly losing hair from the sides and top of your head (I assume you mean the horseshoe area that is normally unaffected by MPB) is not normal for genetic balding, and it is not a known finasteride side effect.

I'm not a doctor, but if I was you, I would make an appointment with one. There are many potential causes to hair loss other than genetics.

(Minoxidil and ketoconazole can also induce shedding, but again, not in the pattern you seem to have.)

Edit: This does not mean you don't have MPB, it more likely means that you have another condition on top of MPB that can likely be treated. It could even be something as simple as excessive stress.

Nothing unusual in the sex department. I have no other sides no acne no sebum. Jst itchiness bt its not ott, so cud jst because i am thinking abt ittoo much. What really shocks me and makes me feel it is not a fin shed is the shedding from all over, back sides etc. I am thnning and hav a bald patch on the side of my head where i never had problems before. Also this does not fall in line with my dads baldness. He has lost it at the font. The crown is absolutely fine and he receeded first. Grandparents both have hair. I am
Also losing hair at the back sides which are mesnt to be never affected. Eyelashes and eyebrows effected as well.

I cant see why cold turkey wud effect it as its meant to only stay in yre stsyem for 24 hrs hence the daily dosage so surely t
Cant be that much of a shock to the system as otherwise they wud insist u take it at the same time evryday otherwise u wud have a negative effect. That is nt widely publicised. And it is clearly the fin that is having this diffuse effect. Either eay what is happening is not normal mpb. Its a rapid decrease in density all over in patches that shudnt be effected.

i think theres two types of sheds.

    1) - it makes sense that for a thicker hair to grow, the old one needs to be released so a new hair can form. This is one type of sheds that fin users experience and possibly the majority. But it could also be due to a lack of androgen stimulation. No one realy report sheds until 1 to 2 month on fin.

    2) - hyperandrogenicty sheds - this is the shed that is not a normal shed, it is an accelaration of mpb/damage being done to the hairs causing it to shed.

an indicator of the shed type you are experiencing, is your scalp itch/and sebum levels. If your scalp itches like mad and is oily that is mpb accelarating.

its so fustrating we are all just fumbling in the dark here.
This is the problem when drug information and trials are done by the companies trying to sell it. of course they are going to downplay anything that will affect sales negatively.
I definitely believe there is something in what gutted says about the up regulation of receptors causing mpb to advance a "few years in only months". This describes exactly what has hapened to myself and others on here as far as I can see. loss all over including sides and back where previously was thick hair.
I feel very stupid as I only took fin for the frontal region despite reading that it did not work here. A Merck study (of course) says it does my current dose is 0.5mg per day but I'm afraid to quit now...
