Why do you think that cause you take Finasteride you could not have erectile dysfunctio ? and if you have it , it is finasteride fault ? 25 % of men at 30 suffers some kind of erectile dysfunctio . I have been taking since 17 and do not have any problem.

Testosteron leves low cause finasteride have none sense at all. They should have another problem that is not finasteride related .
That is the problem, some people think that since they are tacking finasteride they should be superman, if not , is cause finasteride side effects .
People that do not take Finasteride have testosterone defficient, so why you think that is finasteride fault ?Comment

Side Effects!
I know many people talk about side effects from propecia or whatever medical therapy that you are taking but some are not so bad are they?? Im taking propecia and it has not done anything noticeably for me yet. It's almost 6 months and i might be considering avodart. As far as side affects, i do have a bit of everything like less volume of semen and maaaaaybe lowered libido but that is hard to tell for me because i don't feel that different. The problem that i noticed is that my erections are not as hard and its a bit harder for me to maintain it but why can't you use Viagra?? This can work for everyone. You don't have to take it daily and im guessing you can manage it to where you can use it when you think you might need it? I read that its perfectly safe to use both but i don't know how much of a problem it might be for some people. What you guys think??Comment

Compared to some of the "testimonials" on here that read more like pharmaceutical sales pitches than actual first hand accounts of this drug's side effects I would say this one is dead on. I took Propecia for well over a year with exactly those results. Definite reduction in sex drive, erection frequency and potency with a significant loss in "volume". For me these side effects weren't worth it and I stopped taking the drug and within roughly 3 weeks all returned to normal. As a point of perspective and was then and am now in EXTREMELY good cardiovascular shape. Of course I'm also bald

I actually think it looks like some herbal companies are trying to dissuade people from helping themselves with medication that actually works. I’ve been on Propecia since about 1998 and I have never suffered with any sexual side effects. I have been able to keep my hair for many years and feel very lucky that I started taking it early. Several of my friends take it too and not one has complained of side effects.

Well the volume in semen really does not matter much to me because i can still muster a good amount. As long as it would not affect me having babies, its all good for me, plus women also play a big part. Sex drive? Like i said, I'm not sure if that it's really taking a toll on me because i still think about women. It's really hard to tell if my sex drive has decreased but i know that working out and staying active will help. Staying positive and even taking some herbal supplements can help out like tribulus, just in case you really think its a huge problem. Now the Erection is probably the thing that makes me think the most. I know for a fact, part of it can be mental because even when i was young, it was quite normal to go numb at times. Now you can also do something about it, like taking viagra or cialis. You don't have to take it everyday, only when you need it and you might even enjoy it more. When i have sex i always feel that in order for me to feel great, i needed to let myself go completely but when you really think about satisfying women to the extreme, you really have to concentrate a lot more and have control. I always felt more tense and pressure even though i would definitely get the job done for her. This might not be the best example but the whole damn porn industry is on viagra hahaha. I don't see women complaining and i doubt you will. BUT i know that it's not the best of ideas and the potential problems that occur for some but it gives me a bit more comfort knowing you can do something about everything. why would you take a medicine that forces you to take another medicine (cialis) to get an erection? finasteride is an androgen antagonist, period. being on androgen antagonism means you become partially androgen resistant. jamie lee curtis has androgen resistance. thats right. she has a Y chromosome but is androgen resistant. so she looks like a woman...she has really pronounced gynecomastia, and she has ALL her hair, and no penis. she is even married to a man. people who take this medicine are basically a modified version, very mild version of jamie lee curtis.
hair loss is NORMAL. by age 30, 30% of men have hair loss. by 50, its 50%. its not like having cancer or having your penis fall off. what people really should be focusing on is getting used to this concept that it is NORMAL and stop messing with your own hormones and turning yourself into women to avoid hairloss.Comment

I do get erections. That is just an option for people who might have severe erection problems with it. Many people take viagra and its common. Even people who dont need it all the time. No shit people lose their hair with time and it's normal. The point is that some people want to extend the life of their hair. Why did you take it, if it's NORMAL for you? The specific condition most often attributed to Jamie Lee Curtis is AIS, or Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome., AND ITS AN URBAN LEGEND!!!! It’s amazing how ignorant some people are!Contrary to the mass hysteria that I seem to be reading more and more of on these forums, Propecia has been proven both safe and effective for the treatment of MPB and carries less risk of sexual dysfunction then many heavily prescribed drugs like anti depressants and aspirin.
According to this study men taking daily doses of aspirin have almost a 10% chance of suffering from impotence. I wonder when all the “Aspirin is Evil” sites are going to pop up?
London, July 28: A new research by boffins at the University of Tampere in Finland has found that daily doses of the drugs, including the popular aspirin, increases the risk of impotence of men.
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs are widely used to treat pain and inflammation. They are also prescribed to patients suffering from arthritis on high daily doses to ease swollen, painful joints.
However, the new study has found that drugs such as ibuprofen increase erectile problems in middle-aged and elderly men, with those taking the drugs regularly being nearly twice as likely experience a hitch in their sex lives than men who do not take the drugs.
The study was conducted on 1,126 men between the ages of 50 to 70 who were asked to report their use of the painkilling drugs over a five year period, including aspirin, ibuprofen and other common medicines such as naproxen.
Boffins noted that of the number of cases of erectile problems, 97 per 1,000 in men were found to be using NSAIDs, while just 52 per 1,000 in men not using them suffered from impotence.
Lead researcher Dr Rahman Shiri said the use of the NSAIDs on a daily basis increased to risk of impotence in men.
“The use of these drugs increases the risk of erectile dysfunction,” the Daily Mail quoted him, as saying.
Nick Henderson of the International Ibuprofen Foundation said that though the study suggested a link between impotence and Ibuprofen, it did so for men suffering from Alzheimer’s, and added that there was no indication of raised risk for men taking normal doses.
“It demonstrates a very small link with erectile dysfunction, showing a rate of 0.5 per cent for men with arthritis taking NSAIDs compared with 0.1 per cent for those not. There is no indication of any raised risk for men taking normal doses of over the counter ibuprofen for headaches,” he said. (ANI)Comment

a) jamie lee curtis as an example of androgen insensitivity syndrome is actually taught in medical school. i went to one of the top 10 medical schools in this country and this was taught to me. she has never confirmed this, but it is widely understood to be true in the medical community.
b) propecia causing erectile dysfunction is not an urban legend. its in the medical literature:
Finasteride is a drug which causes your body to not respond to an active metabolite of testosterone. individuals who are born with this dysfunction congenitally have what is known as 5-alpha reductase syndrome, which causes you to lose much male function and appearance (including male pattern baldness). finasteride has also been used to help men seeking to have sex changes change their hormonal balance, and has been used in men with sickle cell disease to prevent them from having as frequent erections to decrease priapsim events. there is additionally medical literature now coming up about inhibition of testosterone and neuro-psychiatric concerns. its very easy and convenient for Merck and other companies to claim that DHT is only active in the scalp and skin, and for users of the drug to believe this because it is easier than believing the alternative, but of course if this were true, people with 5a reductase deficiency would have great hair and no other problems, but this is not the case. Its astonishing to me how people think that a drug which is such a powerful androgen antagonist that it will stop - in its tracks - male pattern baldness, which is completely linked to androgens, will somehow not affect other things that are linked to androgens. really? you think its magic that your hair won't fall out and you'll have no effects? you really think that stopping this completely normal aspect of male development is not going to stop other aspects of male developoment? this is wishful thinking and denial.
finally, i am a doctor, and i am not one to believe hysteria. these findings of finasteride causing dysfunction have been evaluated in the systematic review above, and a systematic review is the highest form of medical evidence. much like a complete review of all the data is required to come to any 'real' conclusion, the review of the data is highly suggestive of a greater association with erectile dysfunction. saying that finasteride is not associated with erectile dysfunction, after the data is now clearly 'in', basically flies in the face of the facts, and in fact makes you look as crazy as those people who claim that propecia caused them permanent side effects (perhaps more crazy, because there is no data yet either for or against that claim...)
finally, i would never take a medicine 'stronger' than propecia to stop baldness. to those who would, this is a lost cause. but to those who, like me, would not take these more serious drugs (ie dutasteride) you should realize that propecia is not much different than these drugs. its just a milder version.
and lastly, as to the ridiculous aspirin comparison. it is used to PREVENT HEART ATTACKS. Preventing heart attacks is more important than having erections. propecia is used to prevent hair loss. preventing hair loss vs. erections (and other normal male functions, like sperm count, semen production etc) is your call. but, it is for that reason that aspirin is not an 'evil' drug. because it does a lot of good. it saves lives. there is also the issue of something called biologic plausibility. aspirin is not a testosterone analogue. it does not bind to an androgen receptor. it is conceivable that there is some biologic plausibility that aspirin could interfere with some pathways relating to erection, but it is not like throwing a fake metal wood chip in a wood chipper to get it to stop chipping wood, which is exactly what propecia is when it comes to the function of your hormones -- its a fake testosterone which gums up the works of your normal hormonal function.Comment

It's really interesting how many guys there are who took the drug for years to treat their own hair loss, then had to come off it due to side effects, and now take to the web to demonize it for everyone else. They all either tell you to accept your hair loss or they use the hysterical scare tactics promising that you'll become a woman if you continue to take it. I don't know what their motivation for this is. Perhaps they are getting paid, or more likely it just makes them feel better about their own situation to encourage other guys to give up on treating their hair loss. Or maybe they are bitter that so many millions of men have effectively treated their hair loss with this medication and did not experience horrible side effects, but they are not able to use it.
Whatever the reasoning, I would strongly encourage anyone who is on the medication or who is rationally weighing it as an option to just ignore these people and to not even engage them. They clearly are crusaders with an agenda and are not really saying these things out of genuine concern for your health.Comment

Without a doubt, the main driving force behind this gossip is the fact that Jamie Lee Curtis's alleged intersexuality has long been spoken of as a given in medical school classrooms, even though her name has never appeared in a textbook or journal article in connection with intersex conditions. But a rumor is still a rumor, even from the lips of a board-certified physician. All the more so, in fact, given that any physician who actually treated Curtis couldn't have revealed such information without violating patient confidentiality laws.
The only document that has ever been offered as "proof" was a 1996 op-ed piece in the Baltimore Sun written by William O. Beeman, associate professor of anthropology at Brown University, entitled "What Are You: Male, Merm, Herm, Ferm or Female?" The relevant passage reads as follows:
As a result, there are perhaps millions of XX males and XY females living in the United States today. These are cultural males with male genitalia who are genetically female, and cultural females with female genitalia who are genetically male. The film star Jamie Lee Curtis is one well-known individual who is genetically male, but phenotypically female.
And there we have it in black and white, it would seem, except for two tiny caveats. First, according to Professor Beeman the pertinent sentence was deleted from the published article. Second, the reason it was deleted was that Beeman's attempts to track down the plastic surgeons to whom intermediate sources had attributed the statement were "totally unsuccessful." In other words, Professor Beeman had simply repeated an item of scurrilous gossip.
Any honest appraisal of the facts, I believe, must arrive at the same conclusion reached by L.A. Exposed author Paul Young, to wit, "the rumor that Curtis suffers from AIS (Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome) has never been proven and is almost certainly false."
