The company that makes Finasteride are not the only people who have studied the safety and efficacy of Finasteride. Several third party groups have studied it as well - with larger, longer and more thorough studies. Though these larger, longer and more thorough third party studies do show that the incidence of possible side effects is a little higher than those claimed by the manufacturer, it is still not even close to as high as the fear mongers and ambulance chasers are making it out to be.

I hope you're not suggesting that we're fear mongering here.

The whole reason people are seeking out help in the "future treatments" thread is because obviously Finasteride isnt working for them OR has side effects.

I don't want to fight you but this really isnt the place to be singing the praises of Finasteride. Finasteride is not a future treatment.

Thanks man. I'm just fighting for the bald MALES that have had side effects.

Unless Tracy is on Finasteride AND has had a malfunctioning *c*o*c*k as a result then she does NOT have the qualifications to be preaching to us in the "future treatments" part of this website. End of story.

Not quite the end of the story, mate.

It's still a future treatment until something else comes along, which could be years, so in essence, its still the future treatment, like Tracy stated so eloquently and politely.

            Cheers,

Replace RU with Finasteride in this case.

                Hey guys,

I believe 2013 will be the most exciting year for hair loss sufferers to date. We will be getting very important updates:

                1) Histogen's final Phase 2a results (after 5 years of research & development)

                2) Aderan's final Phase 2b results (after 9 years of research & development)

                3) Replicel's 24 month Phase 1 results

                4) Much more accurate estimates on Aderans & Histogen release dates!

                5) Dr Lauster should finish pre-clinical studies by the end of 2013.

                6) Tsuji lab should finish their preclinical studies by the end of 2013 or early 2014.

                7) Ironman's 12 month results with Dr Gho!

                8) Legitimacy of Dr. Nigam's stem cell therapy should be established.

                9) Australian-based Phase 1 clinical study (in Adelaide) using stem cells should get their 12 month results by the end of 2013.

The list goes on and on...

There is sooo much to look forward to.

I personally believe if you can see a light at the end of the tunnel, you will try and treat your hair loss more seriously!

Wishing you all a year full of exciting news and updates from these companies!

Three cheers for staying positive during these dark ages

The conversation took the direction it did because you steered it that way. I simply replied to a comment that you made. If you had not made that comment, this conversation would not have gone in that direction.

Thats a LOT of good stuff to look forward to. Regardless of the advancements with Aderans/Histogen being available options in the near future, I'm still saving up as many pennies as possible for a procedure with Dr. Gho. I figure; if I'm to go completely bald, I may as well go from NW3 to NW1 right now and enjoy whatever awesome years I have left while I'm still relatively young. Whatever happens later on, cure or no cure won't matter, not much can stop this bullshit.

Writing this however, I'm *furious* with how much red tape there is and the disgustingly slow progress there has been for hair loss sufferers. I really want to rip someones head off for making all of us suffer for this long. They can clone a sheep, cure blindness with stem cells, treat and cure people from cancer..... but they cant grow a strand of f*cking hair?

                      LMAO, so true...

But to be fair, the red tape is needed! Did you read the stuff I posted about Tegenero trial going wrong!

I rather wait and make sure a treatment is relatively safe than to jump on a treatment that may significantly shorten my lifespan.

3 years my friend and we will be OK

                        Hey guys,

Here's some news that will blow your minds in 2013!!!

Our Iranian scientists have come to our rescue once again! I don't know if you guys remember but a few years ago they conducted a 12 month study and managed to show that 1% Topical Finasteride is as effective as oral Finasteride!

They have finally published the results of their new study in Journal of Dermatology which looked at why Dermal Papillae in the balding areas have much more androgen receptors compared to non-balding areas. This is REVOLUTIONARY and could change things drastically in the near future!

Here's a little excerpt from their findings:

"We detected the significant upregulation of miR-221, miR-125b, miR-106a and miR-410 in balding dermal papilla cells.

                        CONCLUSIONS:
We found four microRNAs that could participate in the pathogenesis of male pattern baldness. Regarding the strong therapeutic potential of microRNAs and the easy accessibility of hair follicles for gene therapy, microRNAs are possible candidates for a new generation of revolutionary treatments."

                        Here's the link guys:

Uh it would definitely work but I'm 100% sure the side effects you'd experience are the same as oral fin!

This study I just posted though has nothing to do with fin! They're talking about gene therapy with mRNA to reverse hair loss!

                                - Allergens Bim trials

                                - And maybe some news about a PGD2 treatment

PGd2 blocking + histogen + aderans might equal total regrowth. Maybe its PGD2 that prevents histogen from having amazing results in regards to dormant follicles. The guys in white coats need to get together and connect the dots.
