2. Finasteride can cause some severe side effects, such as "brain fog" and most majorly sexual side effects such as impotence. The company that makes it claims impotence only occurs in about 2% of patients, but I have read numbers as high as 30%. In some people this continues even after quiting the drug. It seems a big price to pay for hair, I decided it just wasnt worth the risk.
There are other, more natural alternatives. Many people take saw palmetto and Beta sitosterol orally as natural replacements to finasteride, but some have claimed shedding from these as well. There are also topical DHT blockers which are woth considering. I just started using one called Clairs hair treatment (I bought it on ebay) and it already seems to have helped reduce my shedding. A common DHT topical is the super Zix formula. Most all of these use saw palmetto as the main ingredient. One down side is they can cause shedding. Seems better than impotence though.
