My (somewhat limited) understanding is that dht is the cause of mpb in males in 95% of cases. Finasteride/Propecia reduces dht levels in your body by around 60% which brings the remaining dht in your body down to a level where it no longer impacts on mpb and there is a cessation in hair loss in males and possibly some regrowth. At least this was the case in around 85% of people in several trials. I personally like those numbers, my mpb is not that aggressive so I think the chances of the drug working are good - hopefully yours is the same! I am really just hoping for maintenance rather than regrowth, until, as you say, a more effective solution hits the market. Hope that helps.
