Hi Wanda
Thank you so so much for your reply to my post in the BaldTruth forum. I am getting a little confused between these forums and networks - navigating around has not been easy for me and I keep having problems with my passwords for each of the sites..sheesh. Thanks for complimenting me on my screen name - I actually named it because of my pets, cats included
Your experience is extremely helpful to me. I have an appt. with Dr Redmond on May 30 and am looking forward to it. I live on Long Island so going to see him on a Saturday is easily done - in fact I work in NYC too but chose to see him on a weekend so I am not rushing.
I have had the whole 9 yards of blood tests done, all normal, but Dr Redmond has ordered a few more before I go to see him. I am praying that he sees something my dermatologist and GP have not seen. I suspect I will be back on HRT and believe me, I am not upset about that at all. Like you, if some other health issue arises as a result, then I will stop but right now I am devastated over my hair loss and my quality of life is impacted greatly.
I cannot believe how you story for the most part parallels mine. Even though my hair is straight, when I was younger I had so much of it I used to break brushes and rubber bands. Now, I twist scrunchies in my hair 3 or 4 times before they stay in and I do not even need a brush anymore. The other thing I noticed is the texture of my hair has changed. It has become frizzy, dull and old looking, all in 5 mos time. Did this happen to you ? I guess that could be hormones or lack of so if that is the case, I am so back on them. I thought about going back to my OB/GYN to be put back on them but I am not sure he would be all that sympathetic to me going back on HRT just for my hair loss whereas Dr Redmond is coming from a different perspective.
All in all, I am consumed by this. I had many worries in my life and still do, but this hair thing has just added heaps of stress to my life.
I hope the patch HRT starts working for you. I can imagine how disappointed you were when you started to shed again being on the patch. I am glad you have a call in to Dr Redmond to check up on that. No sense on staying on the patch if that is not helping. I think the patch is his first choice mainly because it is the most natural form of estrogen but perhaps that is not the right compound for you.
Please keep me posted on your progress and I will do the same - you can email me at phurrballe@gmail.com. This way I am sure to receive it. Good luck and thank you so very much for writing to me. I am encouraged that you did have success on HRT oral form. You have helped me a lot. I thank you for that.
