Hey everyone, hoping someone here can help with a really unpleasant situation at our place in Carlton. Over the past week, there's been this awful sewer smell coming from somewhere around our ground floor bathroom and laundry area. We've tried pouring hot water, drain cleaner, and vinegar down the traps, but the stench keeps coming back and it's making the house unlivable! There’s a large gum tree near our front boundary, so I’m terrified that tree roots have crushed or invaded the underground sewer line. I really want to avoid having a tradie dig up my whole front garden or break open pipes just to figure out what’s wrong. Mate, don't keep pouring chemicals down there—if it's tree roots or a cracked sewer pipe, chemicals won't fix it and the fumes are terrible for your health!
