    Terrifying neck shedding [pictures]

I posted about this topic before, but I wanted to create a new thread with pictures in the hope that someone will have some useful comments.

I'm five months out from a HT, and the neck area is heavily shedding, and not just the fringe hairs at the bottom. I have no idea what's going on, and this is terrifying--I'm losing the back of my head below the scar. I've never seen loss like this on anyone.

Has anyone had this happen, either post-HT or otherwise? Spex, Jotronic, you guys seen anything like this before? I'm bewildered, and worried.

I'm sorry if any of the pics are reversed or flipped; my smartphone tends to do that.

Just wanted to resurrect the thread, as it never got a response the first time around. Is this the dreaded DUPA? I just don't really know what to make of it.

Wish I could help you bud, but have no idea what it is. You need to see a specialist asap!

this appears to be shock loss from your transpant, from what i've read shock loss is potentially permanent but often the hair comes back on its own

Thanks. I thought of shock loss, but it's odd that it's continuing six months after the transplant. I'm really sort of stumped on this.

            Hi Win...

Certainly doesn't look like DUPA, I'm sure you will see your transplant doctor ASAP. Looking around the internet like you probably did, I didn't see anything like it. Weird location.

Hopefully the area will regrow in the near future.

            I wish you the best.

Thought I'd resurrect this. I got a biopsy done and just got called with the test results, which apparently indicate telogen effluvium. So that's good news, as the shedding should come back. I'm having the results faxed to me to pass along to a couple HT surgeons for their analysis, but I'm cautiously encouraged by this.
