I've been on fin 3 months. I think my crown/vertex may have improved a little from baseline, but what do you guys think?

Both of these pictures were taken in sunlight

Yeah that works. It's hard to judge to be honest. I'd say keep it up and take another pic in November. At least I don't think it's worse, so maybe you've stabilised it.

The lighting in the pics is different and your hair itself looks a bit "fuller", but 3 months of finasteride isn't long enough to be responsible for that.

Have you been you been to see a doctor? it's possible that you may not even have mpb. If those pictures were taken outside with a flash, they may show the crown appearing thinner than it actually is. I'm not suggesting you come off the drug, just to get a proper medical exam (assuming you have'nt already done so. Otherwise, it is minimal loss and you caught it very early. Either way, things seem to be positive for you!

No flash, but indoors by a window with sunlight.

Fair enough - Have you been prescribed Propecia by a Doctor subsequent to a proper examination? I only ask as you don't want to be taking a drug you may not need.

Yeah, I did wait until I was 100% sure. I'm very slowly receding too

I documented it to be sure of the crown loss. This was February 2011 also in sunlight. Now I show a bit more scalp than that, but it should fill in again.

Ok, well at least you've made sure. I hate the idea of anyone having to take Propecia without needing it. The crown shots looks fine. Trust me, if they were posted on a non hair loss related forum, no one would even notice. The hair surrounding the crown sworl is very thick and holds up well in the light. You are probably one of the lucky ones who will do well on Propecia and then most likely be able to adjust to one of the new therapies on the horizon. Until then, monitor your progress by all means, but try not to focus on it too much and just get on with the rest of your life. It's all good!

I agree with the the above.

Stratofortress, if I'd just seen your crown photos with no other info, I for one couldn't say conclusively that you even have any hairloss. Your crown looks great and I see no more scalp here than I notice in people who definitely have no loss in the area. However, if you're certain you have MPB then using Propecia is fine and I hope all goes well. I definitely don't see anything worthy of stressing over right now, so I reckon you can take it easy and just monitor your progress.
