    Is this balding?

    Hi there,
Just wanted an opinion on wether this is a mature hairline or a balding hairline? The corners always went back but I don’t think as far as they are now although I could not have been able to tell.

Hi, it can be really hard to tell without comparing older photos. from my personal experience, it might be the beginning of balding. My husband is working as a cook in Dubai, and last month I noticed a very similar change in his hairline, especially around the corners. At first, we thought it was just a mature hairline, but over time we realized it was actually the start of thinning and early balding. Stress, long working hours, heat, and lifestyle can also play a role. If possible, compare with older photos whether it changes more over the next few months.

That's early recession, not just a mature hairline. The temporal points are receding beyond where a stable mature hairline would typically sit and there's visible miniaturisation starting at the corners.

The distinction between mature and early male pattern loss is that mature hairlines recede slightly and then stabilise. What you're showing looks like active progression, especially given that you're noticing it moving back further than it was before.

Worth monitoring closely over the next six months with monthly photos from the same angle. If it continues receding you're dealing with androgenetic alopecia and catching it early gives you the best shot at preserving what's there.
