Is it normal for hair to recede about half an inch in a week or 2?

Im a 24 year old male. About 6 months ago I noticed my hair started to recede just a little, but beginning this week its almost half an inch in just 7 - 10 days. Is it normal to lose hair this fast? Im scared
Im not doing anything differently in my life, although I have been suffering from depression for years.

stress is one of the major causes of acute hair loss, but if you've had depression for years i guess it might be something else involved.

Losing half an inch in a week is NOT normal. I'll wait for the more informed posters to suggest something, but are u totally sure its receeded half an inch in a week?

A little short of an inch would be me best estimate, and it happens in about 10 days. The hair at the front of my head is not losing by that much. Its the hair a little to either side of my head.

If my hair keeps losing at this rate, I will probably be bald by 25 I dont know what is causing my hair to lose this fast all of a sudden. I can only hope it would slow down or stop losing at some point.

yeah of course, but thats in MPB. What the OP is descibing was acute hair loss which even in aggressive MPB you dont lose half an inch in weeks!
