I was on Merck Propecia for the first 3 months and at the end of that period I felt my hair was coming back, then I started to take the generic 5mg cut in 1/4 and this is my second month on it and now I feel I'm back at my initial point, does anyone have experienced the same or it's just my imagination?

Actually the last month I noticed I could look myself in mi bathroom mirror again without seeing the no hair spots, but the last month I had to stop doing it again.

Sorry for the late reply guys

      9 month update:

      1. No sides at all, and I get the morning mood like old times.
      2. Hair loss reduced dramatically and now whatever I lose everyday appears to be the daily shed which happens for everybody
      3. THOUGH, I dont think new hair has grown. My hair line has not improved, and it still stays at the same level as from the time I began this medication. Only difference is that the hair is surely thicker, hence it appears as though I have grown new hair. In summary, for me propecia has helped to maintain and enrich whatever hair I had.

@GreatSage ... I generally test my hair strength by casually runnning my palm across my scalp over the sink. Previously even the faintest touch of hair would cause 15-20 strands of hair to be shed... Now, 1 or 2 hair are shed, and sometimes none... In both cases hairstyle was the same, shampoo was the same. I started noticing this change at around the 4th -5th month stage

@r82..., Yes I keep taking pictures of my temples and the crown. My crown was always the weak spot for the past 5 to 6 years. But for the past 2-3 yrs the temples had starting receding massively. Now both the areas maintain their hair. I am especially pleased that the crown has not given way yet!

@boricotico ... Did you go through the initial shed phase?

Recently my colleague went to India on work, and he got me 800 tablets(Finpecia) for under 80$... Seriously its a pity that we need to spend a fortune for this in USA !!

Well I can't say I shed because of the pill, before taking it I used to see hair falling but I'm pretty sure as I said, in my fourth month right after the Propecia first 3 months, I felt my hair so much healthy and thick, I remember stop being preoccupied for my hair and I could see myself in any mirror, included my neon bathroom light again. I remember telling myself I could live like that without any difficult.

I don't know how but now I'm in my second month on generic fin(actavis brand) and first I had to start taking just 1/8 of the pill due to loss of libido. After 2 weeks I went back to 1/4 and I think my libido it's ok now but my hair keeps feeling bad.

I'm planning waiting more time but for now I'm not so good.

You lucky son of a *@#!, now you can just take propecia till 2015 when when balding will no longer be a problem .

Can you tell us what do you think it's helping in having no side effects at all? I mean you even have your morning wood erections....your body must be made of propecia to be this resistant to the drug...er sumthing.

@Maradona... I did have sides initially especially decreased libido... Read my first posts in the thread for timeline. It kinda subsided after 3 weeks.... I guess your body gets used it it and slowly the sides disappear!

The only side I have now is some pimples on my forehead... I dont know if its some deficiency in my diet. But it started after I started this regime. Never had it in my life!

                    Congrats on your propecia results!!!
Now your in a position to not be paranoid about your loss anymore will you consider trying regain to grow some hair back???

If its only your hairline im guessing you could almost just paste it on around the hairline itself. I have heard that it travels through the skin, so being just the hairline shoudl mean it doesn't even need to toich the hair right???

This is my plan anyway. Im only on day 2 atm lol. BUt if I can settle my hair over the next 12 months i may decide to try gain some back.

Atm im too scared of regain because of the massive shed, but your results might kick me into gear in trying to regain some hair??

No, I will not be trying to regain any hair using other methods.. If it happens using Propecia , then good.. else I am not too bothered.....

As of this week, I will have been using Proscar for exactly 1 year.

                        Has it worked?

                        I think so.

When I started using it, I had very little hair left on the top of my head. I can kind of cover that up with long hair on the side and back of my head (except when the wind blows).

I think I have roughly the same amount of hair that I had when I started on it. If I have less, then it is not much less. But I definitely don't have more hair or fuller, thicker, better quality hair.

I've seen a lot more hair fall over the past few weeks but I think that may be due to using hair product which I had been off for some time. I think the hair wax breaks my hair and weakens it but I kind of need to use it to try and make my hair style less goofy.

I have experienced side effects in a definite loss of libido and weaker, less frequent erections. Regardless, I am going to continue using Proscar as I think it's helped me maintain my hair over the year.

Day#1: Immediately after popping the pill, like after 20 minutes I felt anxious. No way could the medicine be digested that fast and actually effect me. I realized it was just in my mind after having read tonnes of material on its ill effects. I went out to play and forgot about the fact that i've taken the pill. All went fine

Day#2: I started feeling good. I do believe Propecia works in the long run, and I started thinking of all the good that can happen. I am young(26 yrs), muscular, relatively good looking, and with no more hair fall, that would seriously be a blast For the past several years I was trying to come to terms with the fact that my hair will be gone soon, but with this drug, I have hope. And trust me guys, HOPE will overrule any possible side effect if any. I started to think more of the benefits and care less of the sides.

I workout daily and will see if this will effect my muscle growth or potential to lift weights. It's simple, if I can't lift what I could lift yesterday, then the drug is effecting me negatively...
                          Take apicture every week.

Its been exactly 1 year since I started off. the turn around has been amazing
                            1. Hair loss has reduced drastically, and whatever loss I notice now is the daily shed.
2.Frontal hairline and density at the crown has more or less sustained over the course of 1 yr
3.No apparent loss of muscle strength, and no sides.
4.The biggest bonus is, I have totally stopped thinking of hair loss.
                            5. I DO NOT use nizoral, minoxidil
                            6. though I still dont think new hair has re-grown.

                            Medication:
1.First 30 days, Propecia bought from Walgreens @50+$ for 30 tabs
2.Next 10 - 15 days, consumed Tabs bought from internet. I honestly believe this was fake medicine. Hence my advise for you folks to not buy online
                            3.Next 10 months , finpecia, bought directly from India(by a friend), for around 25$ for 300 tabs.

Finpecia is manufactured by Cipla. I am not too sure what you get at unitedpharmacy and inhousepharmacy.

The supposedly fake medicine was bought at http://www.pharmstore.com and www.Pharmacy2Home.com ... I actually had ordered at 2 places.. One never showed up, and one did.. Don't recall which one did show up though.
