please tell me what this is

    Hi ,

I am not sure If I am having a MPB or just a mature hair line ? I am 23 years old I did not notice the thinning on the corners of forehead untill recently. I have been struggling in my life the past two years I am not sure if this is due to being stress for a long time ?

I have not seen or noticed a hair loss while am showering or washing my hair apart from the usuall hair fall you get every day. I am actually not sure how I developed bald spots on the corners of my hair line which is really strange to me. Please note I have high forehead my whole life.
Plus I noticed my right temple is receding more .

Please have a look at my photos and I am waiting for your feedbacks.

Well if you are receding it is at a very early stage. You look to have quite a lot of hair and I am sure many members are grumbling now on the amount you have I don't know how much your hairline has changed but if you are concerned then I recommend checking out a specialist.. it can't hurt in my opinion and starting young is a good idea, at least for me. I started propecia very early like 12 years ago when i was 25ish I still got hair, it isn't as full as 12 years ago but i have a feeling I would have a lot less.

In any case if you are concerned then start getting some information on how to keep it, this site is great for that. perhaps start taking certain vitamins, look into a propecia type drug and talk to a specialist, but looking at your pictures I would not be freaking but I might investigate you options.

Do you have any brothers or family members that have hair loss... I look to my brothers though they are older then me they have the same type of hair.. looking at their photos when they were my age i see i have a lot more hair then they do... if you got family members with your same hairstyle that are older then u their hair my be a good indicator of where you are going... its not always the case but might help. Sure some more people will chime in here as well.

Good Luck and I will trade my hair for yours

Thank you Morbby for your time to reply on my thread.

My father is 50 years old and he is bald at the temples and the crown but still has hair at the front not too much though, anyways he is going through Chemotherapy right now so I am not sure if he has lost hair more than usual since starting his treatment.

My brother is 30 and he is bald at the front but his crown is fine, another brother is 29 but has a full head of hair.

I know baldness runs in my family and sooner or later I will get it and I accept that but now it's really strange I mean mine started different from others like bald spots it's not like I am getting Mature hair line it's kind of strange.

I lost 23 kgs in the past two years and I did not work out, I have been very stressful so I was not eating.

I will try to go and see a doctor but in the meantime I am gathering as much information as I can to keep my hair.

Could anyone recommend a routine to stick with ?

Well Stress can be a killer for hairloss no doubt about that.

I would see a specialist if you are really concerned.. Don't by shy about seeing them they have seen it all.

Right now this is what I do

        1. Propecia once a day
        2. Vitamin B100 Complex Pill
        3. Eat Healthy and Workout
        4. Use Good Shampoo directed at my issues (I bought this at a hair transplant clinic, never got a transplant)

They dont think I need a transplant but keep on stressing I am the perfect canidate for a lasercomb cause i have a lot of hair but it is very fine, they think it will thicken it up... lasercomb is a tough sell, so many negative posts on it....

I just started taking the Vitamin B Complex pill

not me no, from what I have seen the majority do not, but there are people that do, sexual erectile dysfunction seem to be the big one that many people are worried about and experience... never had an issue with that ever...if you skim around the forums you will find lots of posts on propecia and side effects, personally i think it saved me cause it was the only thing i took for 12 years and kept a half decent amount of hair.. it is only now where i am starting to look at other options cause i think its starting to lose its power, seems to be a topic that after a number of years it is not as effective ...

Is it possible to guess whether an area of the head is balding in few years or not ?

              any other ideas ?

well a professional could do a diagnosis on your hair now and tell you what they think might be the areas starting to get weaker now and perhaps compare it to a future session as well. Take photos of your hair and comparing them in the future could help... besides that not really a way to guess which areas will fall out except visual inspection

I agree with Morbby. Starting early is really important I’ve been using Proecia for a few years and it has helped a lot! With no side effects that I am aware of. This forum has been a life saver for me. I have been to all of them and can say that the people here actually seem to want to help each other without pushing one product over another or one doctor over another. I was a member of another forum and was chastised for questioning the moderator and accused of being a shill only because I was honest and told a young guy abut your age to wait before trying a hair transplant. You look pretty good and to me you might have a VERY slight bit of recession that could just be normal for your age. It does not mean that you will go bald. You should consult with an expert to see for sure.

                    Thank you amadeus.

                    Update:

So I followed the advice of visiting a specialist and I went today to see one. He was surprised that I was worried and I actually came to ask about my hair as he is not noticing any sign of balding or thinning and regarding the temples he said this is just normal and because am maturing and my testosterone gets higher am forming this hairline and that is pretty normal.

I asked him to what to do in order to keep my hair like this or to prevent hair loss IF I CAN. He said no need to apply anything or do anything but he gave me a shampoo for dandruff as I have it although I didn't notice that I have dandruff.

I thought I would share what happened with me in case someone is interested.

I feel the need to see another doctor what do you guys think ?

                      Who what the specialist?

Personally I like to get a second opinion on something that really worries me, some doctors or specialist are better then others... did you feel like he knew what he was talking about? and as amadeus he also too sees only slight hair receding if any just like me... dont get all worried and start losing your hair because of stress and anxiety about it

but if you feel the person that looked at your hair today just didnt give you the warm feeling or if you like to see if another doctor or specilist says you are fine to make you feel better then go for it.

Like anything though there are a few specialists out there that like money more then helping, hopefully u will not find any of those... i remember my first guy i ever saw he was all about lets do surgery soon, schedule next week and that was when i had way more hair then now... even now good doctors in my area think i dont need a transplant they just help me with retaining what i got...

anyway i am talking to much.... if seeing another specialist to help put your mind at ease then go for it

                        thank you morbby.

He is a dermatologist. He talked to me for like 5 minutes and that was it. I will try to see another doctor when I have time.

                          update :

I went to see another dermatologist who was recommended by a friend because of his good reputation plus he is bald himself.

Anyway he first checked my scalp and hair all over and talked to me about 20 mins which made me relieved. I mean talking to the doctor about your concerns is what I want.

The doctor said he sees no sign of balding at all and said the temples has receded but what i have has nothing to do with balding and size of the forehead is just hereditary.

He noticed dandruff and asked me if I have itchy scalp or something. He prescribed me an Anti-fungal & Anti-dandruff twice a week and scalp drops called Betnovate scalp application twice a week as well.

I asked him if using Propecia or rogaine would help he replied they wont help with the temples at all.

I thought I would share my visit to the doctor.

well I hope that put your mind at ease.. and yeah propecia and rogaine are not known to work that great on the temples though some people on the forums have said they have had success, just like every treatment on here some people have positive results and some do not with the same treatment.

I thought you looked pretty good,I would say stay healthy, eat well, take vitamins if you feel you dont get them in your day to day foods and keep an eye on it, just dont stress about it, that could be the worse thing to do Amazing what the mind can do., hair loss due to stress would suck

                              Hi guys,

                              Update:

Still the same after 6 months nothing has changed in my hairline although sometimes I worry about the thinner hair in the hairline but I heard it's normal as non-balding men like Tom Cruise for example has finer thinner hair at the hairline compared with other areas in his scalp. So I don't understand the concept of miniaturization of hair lead to balding !

I will try to upload new pics tomorrow just to compare and help guys who are in my situation.

One more thing does swirl at the hairline tells you something ? I mean I have a swirl at the right side of my hairline near the corner and does my brother who is not balding. I am not sure just a thought /
