I'm really thinking about taking propecia now and am still a little afraid of the side effects. Does anyone think that regular exercise and weight lifting will help to offset the side effects of all the extra estrogen?

Taking Propecia should not cause a big enough elevation in Estrogen to cause any significant side effects. Are you also taking testosterone? You could also consider taking a mild estrogen blocker every 2-3 days. -
In my case, it did. It depends on how sensitive you are to rises in estrogen. Turns out I'm sensitive, and it caused mild but strong enough symptoms of gyno to stop me taking it. Unlucky perhaps, but it shows that propecia is a strong and potentially harmful drug - regardless of what people say and like to think, you ARE taking a risk. It's probably worth trying though, so long as you're prepared to quit before you're in too deep.Comment

Hey,
I've only been off propecia for 2 weeks, so too early to confirm. However, according to my doc, it'll take at least 6 months to reverse, but might not at all. The reason being, and I think this takes care of your first question, it isn't like 'fat' which can simply be burnt off, I think it has something to do with water retention. Now, I didn't excercise regularly before I discovered the problem, but I was far from overweight (weighing around 70kgs). I am doing regular excercise now, however, so I will see what happens as a result. If the problem reversed after continued and constant excercise, then I'd consider coming back on half the dose or something. It is a risk though.Comment

I have seen a few cases of reversal of mild breast enlargement 6-12 months after patient added a mild estrogen blocker to their regimen. For those taking testosterone, altering the dosages can also have some positive benefits.Comment
