20 years old, how much longer will I have a decent amount of hair?

Hi, this forum has been a great support since i discovered my hair loss when I was 17. I am now 20 and started finasteride about 7 months ago. I feel it has slightly thickened my hair/hairline and if not definitely maintained. Now I know i'm no where near as far into the hair loss process as some members of this forum but I am definitely experiencing significant MPB and bear in mind I am only 20. Attached are some photos of my crown wet and dry, temple under normal and harsher light and my hair styled with product and dried.Click image for larger version

So my question is if this is my hair at 20, how long can I expect to have not noticeably balding hair? Thanks very much for any replies

    Hi

Well done on doing something about your hair loss. That’s the first step!

Predicting future hair loss is always difficult - it’s like asking how long is a piece of string? Some people can lose all their hair over 10 years, others within the space of a couple of years. Some will show no sign of hairloss in their 20s and then start aggressively balding in their mid-late 30s.

As you’re only 7 months on finesataride though and you feel like it’s working for you, chances are you may continue to improve up to the two year point and then maintain. Some people can maintain what they have using finestaride for 10+ years and longer; others see diminishing returns after a few years.

You have great hair though so try enjoying it!
