Hey guys. I've noticed that I've started to recede a bit at the temples, and my hairline looks exactly like my uncles at my age (20), and he still has a good amount of hair in his 50s but definitely more receded. My dad still has all his hair but a completely different pattern then me, and my maternal grandfather went bald but had a different hair type and a different pattern altogether. Thanks.
Is it possible to follow the balding pattern of your uncle on your father's side?

Yes, this is possible in the sense that MPB is genetic. That's not to say that you will definitely inherit it, but it can be a good indicator of where you're heading. It's also a myth that hair loss only comes from the grandfather on your mother's side of the family... There's no evidence to support that and it's more of a wive's tail than anything else.

Hello, yes anything is possibly when it comes to genes. My father's Uncle balded very aggressively when he was just 21 and was a NW6 soon afterwards. My dad followed his pattern at about the age of 26, although his own father did not bald until much later on in life. Then there's me, I didn't start losing hair until I was 33, and I'm a diffuse thinner so I don't even follow the traditional Norwood scale. Don't forget you've probably got some of your mum's genes mixed in there as well.Comment
