They are the same thing, except that former, usually progresses into full mpb, and the latter, stops, for a while. Pulling your hair back, completely would give a better idea of what is going on.

If I saw you on the street I would not think anything was amiss. Question, how old are you? Hairlines DO mature. The question is... do they continue to recede, or do they stay that way, for a while?

I would wait six months, take more pics, and compare.

Also... hair in the shower, brush, pillow, etc?

I am only 18, this is why it’s been quite a shock. Even though there has been no sign of MPB in either side of my families(in some cases their hairlines do recede but it stays that way and they die with thick full heads of hair.) I have seen mabye a couple of hairs(1-5) here in there on my pillow or in the shower but I think it’s just because my hair is longer now than it ever used to be, so the hairs are just more noticeable.

So... my BIG advice to you. Chill out a bit. You lose up to 100 hairs a day, as part of the normal cycle.

Take pics in six months... come back here, and we can talk.
