I have been consistently on Finasteride since ~ March 2013 ( 1.25 mg EOD ) . Some short 2 week drug holiday's here and there . My hair "loss" started in September 2012 when for the first time ever I noticed hair falling out in the shower.

I currently take Adderall XR about 2-4 times per week for medical school , and Escitalopram ( SSRI) daily for anxiety / depression.Also I am on exogenous Testosterone Enanthate 200mg/week + 0.5 mg Anastrozole ~2x / month.

I have been off Finasteride for 11 days now and I buzzed my hair short to really get a accurate view on the current state of my hair. I still lose hair from all over my scalp (especially sides ) and I notice small numbers of thin miniaturized hairs (Vellus type) which is indicative of Androgenic Alopecia.

Question: Should I start Finasteride again (EOD) , or should I wait it out ?

Why did you stop? Was it helping you? Did you notice a shed, after you stopped?

I have been off FIN for 11-12 days and I did notice a "shed", when showering and during the day. Maybe ~40-60 hairs.


In my personal experience, my perception is that Finasteride slightly impairs my short term memory, cognition, ability to articulate my thoughts, motivation / aggression , also I think my anxiety is worse on Fin. Problem is reading all these anecdotal experiences of others on Finasteride kind of makes it seem that I am also experiencing the same symptoms / side effects when in fact in may just be placebo / in my head.

40-60 hairs is NOT a shed. You normally lose at least 100.

Started Fin again at 1.25 mg EOD. I was off for a good 12-13 days. Problem is the miniaturized hairs are really hard to count / see.

Hey mate, bit of a long shot, but how has your experience been? Adderall causes me hair loss and I’m looking for a solution
