    question that hasnt been asked?

Hi just registered I have been looking through this great forum and havent seen somthing im curious about

I have terrible hair its very dry and frizzy and I have tried everything believe me to make it better Iv found that if i add some olive oil and rub it into my hair and scalp in small doses and then use hair tongs (straighteners) it looks good and hides how bad my hair looks

what im asking is im receding at the frontal hairline and im going to start taking propecia to maintain the rest of my hair im just curious will this be in vain since im using these heat stylers ? or will it not matter and wont affect my results if propecia actually works ? i guess if i dont use them my hair will look like crap and if i cut my hair off people will notice im balding so id rather carry on what im doing

How you choose to style your hair will have no effect on whether Propecia works for you or not.

As Winston said, it wouldn't affect the success of Propecia but frequent use of a straightener can definitely make your hair dry and brittle and potentially cause breakage, which will make your hair look thinner. To protect your hair, you should think about investing in a ceramic straightening iron (if you're not already using one) because these apply heat more evenly and are less likely to snag and break your hair. You can also find heat protectant sprays and creams for your hair- which can add some needed moisture while protecting your hair from heat damage.

I have had a few patients tell me that they used olive oils with some success. Be careful with all the straightening with hot irons. This can also cause damage and over time worsen your hair quality problems. Propecia effects will most likely not be effected either way.
