Process of switching from Finasteride to Dutasteride

Hey all, thanks for having me here.

I'm 36 and have been on Propecia / Finasteride for about 12 years.

I'd like to say it's been pretty succesful. For about 10 years very little changed. There was very slight recession and thinning (from a good start - so not too noticeable)

But in the last two years there is more noticeable thinning and recession at the front (I wear my hair longer and push it to one side to try and hide the thinning. And some early stage thinning on the crown.

I've never been sure if the Propecia was actually doing anything (maybe this stage of balding was always coming in my mid 30s?) or the Propecia worked brilliantly and has now just started to lose effectiveness.

I have taken the plunge and bought 6 months of Avodart / Dutasteride 0.5mg and am a bit nervous about using it.

Does anyone have specific recommendations? Should I just quit the Fin and take the Dut daily? Or take both for a while? Or phase in the Dut?

Are there any benefits to taking a mix long term?

Is there any kind of consensus here about whether the Dut will prove more effective than the Fin?

I only have one head of hair and I want to get it right!!

What is the best / safest way to actually switch over to the Dutasteride - in terms of daily pill taking routine.
