Hello all, I'm a 21 year old male and my hairs going thin at the crown. My hair used to be nice and thick, like a mop on my head, but at the age of 19, it started to thin at the crown. Now 2 years later my whole crown is opening up. I'm aware of Finasteride and Rogaine but I have always been reluctant to get on these drugs, because of the side effects. I've heard that Finasteride causes erectile dysfunction, anorgasmia, depression, and anxiety, and in some cases they don't go away even after quitting the drug. These are listed as rare side effects, but I still see a large number of users reporting these effects.
I'm also skeptical about the effectiveness of Finasteride in general. Does Finasteride really grow back your hair? Most of the people in this forum have been on Fin for years on end, but when I see their before/after pics, I see very little improvement in thickness. It seems to me that everyone here is chasing an impossible dream.
I want to do something about my hair loss, but I'm pessimistic about the current treatment options. The negatives outweigh the positives. Someone please change my thinking. Help.
