I never understood why people are so worried about shedding 20 hair..... Dun you know a normal person shed about 100 hair a day? 20 - 40 is very little....

I did read your post. Frankly, I do not really believe that you never saw any hair in the shower actually. Shampooing wet hair is the time when those hair that are about to fall out will shed due to the washing action.

However, in light of your question, yes, there may be some shed further into the propecia treatment. In fact, people can even experience a third shed.

No, he's right vanz... I think once you start to realise your hairs thinning, you pay a lot of attention to these sorts of things. I definitely only noticed around 5-7 hairs in the shower a day - in the last 2 weeks im noticing around 40... and its not just noticing the hairs themselves.. my hairs gotten much thinner since. The only reason I can think for my recent shedding is that I was in between 'stages' of hair loss, and the rest just had to fall out before the propecia is going to do anything.. if it does that is.

Well if 5-10 hair during shower is normal then Im pretty much screwed since I regularly shed about 30-50 hair in the shower lol. But there had been no discernible difference in my hair though. And the hair I saw are mostly long, thick and dark. Maybe it is because my hair is pretty long, around 6 inches...

Im pretty sure I read somewhere that shampooing is the time that you shed the most hair, which makes sense since it is likely the most vigorous action on your hair the entire day.

yeah and maybe the chemicals etc... One thing though: im not discounting the possibility that the shedding is due to the propecia, in which case there is a chance that this hair will come back (if it is shedding, then it doesn't mean the follicles are dead, just that the current hairs are being pushed out); if propecia works, then these hairs should come back, hopefully thicker than before. Really starting to wonder whether I should just get on minoxidil, speed the shedding process up a bit, but give myself a better chance of regrowing the hair.

Ok thanks for the heads up. Good thing that Im starting on Fin and Nizoral then .

Thing is, I have no idea of what is normal, as I only started counting my hair after i realised my hair loss, and I mean I count every single hair on my hand, when I shampoo.

Odd thing is, I do not drop hair when I comb or pull. I tried the pull test and pulled out a grand total of 4 strands, across my entire head.... All the hair I shed seem to come out in the shower... When I comb I see a maximum of 8 hair....
