    I need advice fast

I have a receding hairline at 19. I'm tempted to take finasteride but I'm not sure whether my case is bad to the extent that I should?

Also, could it effect my body's development as I'm scared that if I start taking it.. my body could still be changing?

What should I do? Is it aggressive hair loss for my age? I don't have a family history of balding so I really don't know whether to trust genetics or get finasteride.

Someone please inform me on what I should do, some help

First off, your hairline looks totally fine to me and you appear to have a full head of hair. I don't know how much or how fast your hairline has changed, but it's normal for your hairline to change and mature as you get older. That doesn't necessarily mean that you're losing your hair. Also, it's completely natural for the base of the hairline to be irregular and not as dense as the rest of the hair.

Most importantly though, the questions you're asking are really questions for your doctor. Meet with a dermatologist or a hair specialist and get their input regarding the necessity and safety of taking finasteride. Ideally, it's not something you'll ever have to take. As beneficial as it can be, taking no medication is always a better option than taking medication when possible.

If you're familiar with the Norwood scale, I would put you at about a 2. A solid 2 though. You have a thick head of hair and a great hairline. I don't think there's much chance of re-growing anything with Finasteride. I would monitor your hairline at regular intervals and see if you lose any more hair. But don't obsess over it.

Firstly thank you for the reply.. Is a Norwood 2 common at my age? It seems unnatural in comparison to many people around me who still seem to be solid Norwood 1's. My hair is still thick and solid but my hairline has been changing for over a year now which is what's driven me to become paranoid. I can see its moving into the shape of a widows peak which is possibly the worst type of receding hairline to have. It gives the illusion of deeper recession and makes hairloss more prominent and pronounced.

For someone who doesn't have a family history of balding yet is pronounced a Norwood 2 at 19 is telling me I have a long battle ahead with hair loss.

I only first noticed hair loss around 3 months ago. Though now I look back on old photo's It's been notably changing for over a year. I know finasteride is not something i necessarily need and likely won't need for a while. But taking it as a preventive measure to warn off future hair loss is what I'm considering. Although part of me also wants to have faith/trust in my genetics as I have almost no history of balding in my family. Still, being a Norwood 2 at 19 is giving me the idea that I have a long and troublesome journey ahead with hair loss.
