Switched from overseas meds to "fda approved"

And it's bee downhill ever since.
I purchased finasteride (fincar?) online which I believe was shipped from India. After about 5 months hair started filling back in beautifully. Trying to be thrifty, I went to my local hair restoration specialist (MD) whose credentials are exemplary, and asked if I could get a prescription for finasteride. He prescribed 5mg tablets which he recommended cutting into quarters and taking daily. Stopped the pills I had been taking and began the new ones. That was in January of this year. A few months after I noticed my hair was starting to reverse course in filling in and at this point can easily see scalp when standing under overhead lighting.
Does anyone here have any idea what has gone so awry?
    Thanks

My best guess is that it's not distributed evenly? But it could be the quality of the generic.

Not all the brands are created equal. One of the brands I took doesn't do much of anything, unfortunately.

      Right

Ive thought about that but since "fda approval" is supposed to eliminate that kind of doubt im not sure if im being too quick to see results from the switch over or what. The pills i ordered overseas were formulated in 1mg and worked wonderfully. Makes me doubt the entire "only buy American" mantra.
      Thanks for your input man
