Is this where they tattoo dots on a shaved bald head, to make it look like you have all your hair, but you've shaved it?

The problem with that is that you'll have those dots for life. And with time the dots might merge into each other and it'll look like a lot of blue colour on your head.

    I would say NO.

One thing looks worse than a bald man who's been forced to shave his head. That's a man who looks like he was stupid enough to do it out of choice.

You go to a job interview, and if you're bald they'll think 'unlucky bastard,' but they might still employ you. If you look like you've got a shaved head out of choice, they'll think 'thug' and show you the door.

You might also struggle to explain to a girlfriend why you struggle to grow your hair out!

      Just my thoughts.

The people that created this rubbish would have used their time far more wisely if they worked out how to create artificial implants that scar naturally and therefore avoid infections and rapid fall out. Now, that really would be something.

            Totally agree again.

If artificial hair implants actually worked, I'd have all my remaining hair removed, including the back and sides, and would have the look I've always wanted with not one single compromise! I'd probably do this even if a cure for baldness came along!

Why would you not use the cure instead? I don't understand.

I'd rather want my own hair that I know is growing and that I can wear in different styles and lengths if I want to.

you seem to live in your onw little world where bald guys are akin to lepers, shunned by society

i know plenty of bald guys ( or guys with incredibly short hair like me) with good jobs, good lives, good families...the only advice i can give you is to wake up and enter the real world - you sound like a spoil teenager

as for the girlfriend problem -for the amount you whine and moan, id be very surprised if you had a girlfriend in the 1st place

and if you do have one, i wouldnt be surprised if she left you - not because your going bald but beause you moan like a biatch!

Are you saying you'd employ someone stupid enough to shave their head out of choice? Because I know I sure as hell wouldn't, because I wouldn't want clients to think I employed neo-Nazis and thugs.

Shaved heads are only an option for balding people, and even then not a very good one.

You're exactly right, Fixed by 35. It is absurd that anyone who hates being bald would even contemplate having hundreds of dots tattooed on their head.

Surely the angst of being bald comes from having NO HAIR. How can dots replace hair? It cannot. It's just too silly for words. And you're right again, going to an interview with a blue dotted head would make me want to laugh the applicant out the interview room.

A shaved head does make someone look a thug, especially when it looks like you have all your hair. You'd be left wondering, why did this guy shave off his entire head of hair?

I have to agree with others and say it's a bad idea. There's too much margin for disaster and, as Gusto mentioned, it always takes on a blue-ish tinge over time.

                          Blue?

im not keen on this either, but i have many tattoos (not on my head, though) and they still look great and there about 15 years old. you have to take care of them. none of my ink is blue or green, just nice black. if you buy junk ink maybe on ebay or someplace it would turn blue, but not good stuff.

Even though black ink could be used, my fear is the ink will turn blue over time, and worst still, the dots will merge as skin ages.

I just want to chime in- this is my first post. Just got this procedure done at (Ill just say the well known place in Florida, as company names seem to get edited out), and it looks absolutely amazing. I walked in a norwood 5 to 6 and walked out a norwood 0. As far as being able to tell from across the room, bulls***. Perhaps that is the case with some providers, but I can't tell my natural follicles from the replicated ones from 3 inches away in the mirror. The hairline looks outstanding, the density is full and equal on every square inch of my head, the color was perfectly matched, I can go on and on.

I'm not here to convince those dead set against this into considering it. The buzzed look (which you will obviously need to maintain if you have considerable hairloss and opt for this procedure) is not for everyone. I do however think that the ratonal that the buzzed look being only for neo-Nazis and thugs is a bit dated. Have you looked around in the past few years? I see people from all walks of life, guys with full heads of hair and balding, wearing a buzz cut. I'm not just talking about guys working at jiffy lube or delivering pizza, I mean people in very professional positions, heck, the attorney at the closing when I bought my house a few months ago was a good looking man in his 40's with a full head of hair, sporting a buzzed head.

You're probably right about eventually having to tell future girlfriends, but if it comes out great, and looks great (which mine absolutely does), who cares.
