Any long time rogaine users?

Hey guys!

I've been a rogaine user for a couple of years now, and yes the stuff is making me shed less hair, but I never stop shedding? Is this normal? Anyone with a similar experience? After every application I loose around 50-100 hairs, and it seems like short to medium length hair sheds more? I don't seem to be shedding this much after a buzz cut (around 3-6 mm length)

Even people without MPB shed at least 50 hairs a day. Perfectly normal.

For me I've used rogaine for 8months and it's slowed loss by maybe 80%. Tiny bit of thickening.

Added Propecia 1.25mg a day 1 month ago and seems like it's helping rogaine out already. Shedding tiny hairs this week.

Also make sure you rub it in gently. New hairs can be shed from you simply applying it roughly.

Hi, i do not have any Rogaine user but i can tell about Rogaine and their effects on hair loss.
Rogaine or Minoxidil 2% solution is a treatment to cure hair loss in both men and women. Earlier it was available only by prescription but today a person can purchase it over the counter. Minoxidil is applied topically over the balding areas for stimulation of new hair growth. It drew a lot of attention from the media in its initial days as it was approved by FDA. It was known as a miracle drug's. Rogaine is said to have a moderate effect in controlling hair loss in some people. Also, it has been observed that women respond better to Rogaine treatment than menthe response rate is even higher when 5% minoxidil is applied. Be it Minoxidil 2% or 5% it effective only in cases of early hair loss or hair loss due to androgenetic alopecia or on relatively small areas of bald patches. Early use of minoxidil indicates that it helped in delaying the progression of male or female pattern hair loss. One must make sure that he/she uses Rogaine as directed by the physician.

A hair specialist at times uses Rogaine to delay hair transplantation for several years and conserve the donor area of hair which could be eventually used during hair transplant. Rogaine is effective in improving hair growth in the central areas of the scalp than the frontal areas. A hair specialist normally uses minoxidil to complement hair transplant and help create a fuller hair on the scalp. However, it is to be noted that minoxidil needs to apply for a lifetime. Stopping its application will result in excessive hair loss. It is advisable that one seek a hair specialist's advice before applying anything available over the counter. After all it is the matter of your hair!

I have been using rogaine for 33 years. I started when I was 19 and I am 52 now. When I was a Junior in college I had some noticeable thinning on my crown - about the size of a half dollar - I caught it early - but I horrified about it. I started using a minoxidil solution (minoxidil + extraneous compound like Vehicle/N). After about 6 months of using minoxidil solution I noticed that my hair texture changed - it looked healthier. And after about a year the thin area looked like it was filling in. And after 2 years I was sure that it had mostly filled. For those first 2 years I was only applying it on my crown, but my hairline was also receding, so I started applying it in front too. now, after 33 years of using Rogaine, only a very small area on my crown never grew back, but its hard to see and no one has ever noticed - it looks full. But unfortunately my hairline continued to recede. Rogaine greatly slowed down the recession but didn't stop it. The first 25 years my hairline receded only about 3/4 of an inch. But the last 8 years it has receded an additional inch. I am a little worried about the increased acceleration of hairloss. But I can't really complain. My brother, who is 1 year younger than me, started losing his hair at the same age and in the same place, and today you can easily see the horseshoe shape from hairloss. If I had to it all over again I would do everything the same except I would have applied Rogaine in front sooner than I did.

Minoxidil slowed down the rate that my hair fell out. On average, it usually can only improve twenty five percent above baseline. However, it works in forty five percent of men. Some guys produce too much DHT, and unfortunately it won't help them, if their
hair is DHT resistant.

do you just use Rogaine for treatment or so you use Oral Propecia too? I am looking for a topical to replace oral propecia since i can't take it any longer.

My recommendation is to stay away from Propecia at ALL COSTS , google Post Finasteride syndrome and you ll see what I mean .

Kashman is right.

I always preach this.. Monoxidil (rogaine) is cool but eventually get's weaker and if you stop using for like a week.. you're done for. It all falls out.

Finasteride is amazing because after a year of taking, your hair loss will slow down dramatically, and it's so simple to swallow a small tablet every day.

Also, maybe 5 years down the road.. look into FUE (no scar) transplant. That's what I did to restore the lost hair and was best decision I ever made.
