How much time to give it?!

Hello all,
Pleased to be entering the fray!
I've been on proscar (cut 1mg) for 10 months now with no results, if anything less density on top. My question is how long do you give it before admitting defeat and trying an alternative?

If your doctor is keeping an eye on you . He will tell you correctly whether you are responding or not by the use of specific tests. It takes maximum one year to tell.

find a good dermatologist and get a miniaturization test, have them look through a microscope to see if you have any new growth. New growth is HARD to spot sometimes. Even a scalp biopsy might help/

It depends what your expectations are. Has it slowed down the loss compared to pre-Fin? Sometimes that's all you'll get from it. Give it another few months and if you still think you're losing ground then possibly consider adding Minox or even trying Dut. I don't think upping the dose from 1mg would be too beneficial.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm basically seriously considering dut as my next step but only after exhausting all other methods of prevention before hand. At the end of my 5 month course of proscar now (hence the topic) Been on minox for 2+ years too and wondering how long to give finestride before changing. I'm 32 now and hope to stabilise loss as much as possible before being a candidate for HT around 35+ years.
