For some time now I've been considering the possibility of a hair transplant.
I'm 32 years old and I would say I'm a Norwood 2-3 with some general thinning. I still have a full crown and I'm on finasteride (no sides), and been on it for 2 years.
I have no idea if it has had any affect on my hairloss. It may have slowed it down, but I have definitely lost more hair. More thinning rather than receding.
My question is... is a hair transplant really worth the risk? My fear is starting a battle with something that I will ultimately lose. It would be great if finasteride 'definitely worked' and you could be guaranteed of no further loss. Then a hair transplant really would be worth consideration.
However, with this not being the case I just feel hair transplants are too risky with further loss almost inevitable in some form.
It would be interesting to hear from people who have had a procedure. Certainly those who have had many years to reflect and especially those who have possibly experienced loss in the years post transplant. What are their thoughts? Was it worth it? Do they regret doing it and/or what would their general advice be?
This is not a post aiming to be negative towards transplants, rather a discussion about the viability of fighting hairloss long term. Is it a battle we really want to start?
