    Help Needed ! Hair loss

I am a 23 year old and I have been suffering from hair loss since the past 2 years. I naturally had very thick hair so I ignored the hair loss completely. Now I can notice a change in my hair. I can easily see my scalp and I am worried I may go bald. I am posting some pictures of my present situation.

I have overall thinning on scalp and it's worse near the right temple.

I have irregular sleeping habits, and no proper diet and only wash hair once a week. I think I have a lot of dandruff too because my head is itchy all the time. When my hair falls out I notice a white thing at the root of my hair.

    Could you please help ?

Your hair loss pattern looks similar to mine when I was your age. I would say that if you diet isn't what it should be, then do what you need to to change that, but don't rely on those changes to reverse your hair loss. If you want to do something to stabilize and possibly reverse your hair loss you need to get on propecia. Propecia does come with risks of sides as I am sure you already know about, but I have been using now for close to 2 years and have been side free since about a month into using.

^Thanks for the reply. Yes I am definitely going to change my diet. And planning to consult a doctor soon. I am concerned whether I have
      a)Male Pattern Baldness or
      b) Diffuse Thinning of hair

And could you kindly share your results with Propecia ? Have you grown back hair ? Is your hair thicker now. Considering that 2 years seems to be quite a good period to judge.

Edit : I have gone through your posts and saw your results. That's impressive. Keep up the good work. Thanks

Not to worry you, but you may have a bit of both MPB and Diffuse thinning. I don't know what your hair looked like before so I am just taking a guess since you said you used to have thick hair and know it looks a little thin. I don't mean it looks horrible so please don't panic.

My results have been decent. Not great, but decent. Hair is still thin on top and crown isn't so great, but I have more hair then before so I should be satisfied. I wouldn't mind more though haha. I will post a link to my thread below and you can see my starting point and where I am now. Also take into consideration that I started losing my hair at 22, but didn't start treatments until I was 36. You will have the advantage of starting early in the hair loss process.

I'll just jump right into it. I'm 36, MPB, maybe a NW4? Been losing my hair since my early 20's. Just to give you some background info. I went to see my Dr. when I was about age 25 to discuss hair loss. Instead of trying to help me slow it down or stop it, he began to tell me how it is just a natural part of life and how it

I am definitely going to do something. Just waiting for my exams to be done in another 2 weeks. I am thinking to get a prescription for Finasteride or Minoxidil. But your results have been good. Gives me a lot of hope. And for comparison, I am just posting some pics of my hair before

The first three in 2011, 4th one in 2012, 5th in 2013, 6,7,8 pic are in 2014 and the last one 2 months back.

            Hi Krishelnino!
'Notcoolanymore' gave some very good advice to you!!
He and I are both experiencing positive effects from the use of Finasteride.
Being that you are still YOUNG, do not allow yourself to become STRESSED OUT over something like this or anything else in life.
Stress could very possibly advance ones hairloss--thats the truth.
There WILL BE much better & ADVANCED hairloss treatments available in your lifetime --hopefully ours too-lol.

I would definitely agree with others here only small modification is look at it as a “multimodal approach”. Don’t rely on medicines only if you want to see good regrowth for long term. Your lifestyle changes, diet modification and good hair hygiene plays a role too. An itchy scalp accompanied with hair loss is indicative of a severe dermatological condition. Nizoral 2% shampoo should help you with itchy scalp as well as it will help you add some volume too. The receding hairline to form a characteristic “M” shape is generally a sign of MPB, so don’t delay in getting proper consultation from specialist.
My hubby is on propecia for long time now (close to 2 years, I think). He has got good results. But take it under doctor’s guidance to optimize its benefits.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I am definitely freaking out since a week or so worrying too much. I hope I can rest peacefully after consulting a doctor. And yeah, I hope there will be better treatments in the near future. Anyways, good to know that you Fin is working for you.

Thanks for the advice. I am indeed making changes to my sleep patterns and also eating properly. Yes my scalp is definitely in a worse condition. I am not sure about MPB, but there is a lot of hairfall and maybe because of that i have low density, particularly near my right temple, which is what I am worried about. If it is MPB, i want to start using Fin+Minoxidil right away.
