Here's a not so flattering picture of me taken a year ago:

    Hi,

This pic is great because it does really help illustrate your point.
The diffuse thinning is more noticeable at this 2 to 3 week growth.

I know you say a few hundred hairs, but I reckon you've probably got at least 2000 hairs or more on top there (probably more, would need a more high definition close up pic from a different angle to see).
And I bet quite a lot of vellus hairs too.
It wouldn't be possible to have your hairline with only 100 hairs.

I also have diffuse hair loss (as well as receeding).
So I know that in the diffuse areas it makes the individual hairs thinner and weaker. This contributes to the lack of density in that area, and the contrast with the side hair.

Whatever clipper guard you use (grade #1 or #2, I guess) in the earlier pics really helps hide the density difference

What NW scale are you at based on your personal opinion and what a doctor may have told you?

Maybe you should consider holding off on that HT for just a little while longer. It would not hurt to see what new treatment maybe probable this year 2014.
Im sorry that i have not read through everything but, which doctor were you planning to be involved with?
Thanks for posting your images my friend...Cheers!
I really think if you're young and you get a hair transplant you better be damn sure it's going to be extremely thick and unnoticeable. unless you are just doing it to buzz it down, sort of like what wesley sneijder did. It's more acceptable to have thinning hair when you're in the 30-40 range and a hair transplant that is inevitably going to be thinner than natural hair looks less like a hair transplant. I'm very much in the buzz it down camp, and for this guy it's for sure a buzz it down thing. if anything, i'd say getting one for more stubble if you could get a scarless transplant would be the only good reasons to get on, however I'm not quite sure if this is the time for that to be readily assured to happen.

Dr. Bisanga said I was a NW5 going on 6 if I recall well. I know it may not look like it at all, but I think I just have a "kind" pattern of loss, despite the aggressiveness.

In fact Artista, I've already cancelled my surgery based on the comments here and another forum, as well as what my relatives have suggested. I'm going to wait as long as I can, see if I can live with it a little longer. Of course I'm thinking about Dr. Wesley's scarless procedure.

When I say a 100 hairs, I'm talking about the real terminal hairs left. The picture was a year ago, I'm much worse off now unfortunately.

Its not really something anyone can answer for you. Its like asking if you should get married or something its kind of how you feel about it more then anything. Does it really bother you enough that you think its worth it?

I disagree with you, if you want to get married, I'd ask the middle-aged men around you or on the web that did get married to know if it's worth it. There are veterans of hair loss, doctors and hair clinic representatives here that went through all I'm going through and can offer me their expertise on the matter.

I don't see a difference in the way people treat me (except for the random drunks and comments I overhear on the street). Most of the time, I still like what I see in the mirror, so no, it not worth it for the time being. I guess it's an irrational fear I have, that I might be less worthy than other people because I'm bald.

I've only read the OP and no other posts

Hey man I saw your pics, saw you were 6'3 or whatever and honestly you don't need a transplant.

And I'm not saying that because technically nobody needs a transplant, some people sure as hell do need one. Shorter guys, or uglier guys, or maybe guys who have more money than they know what to do with.

What you need is to start working out.

NO HOMO but if you add some muscle to your frame, girls are going to be chasing you (as long as you are not socially retarded).

All in all you look good bro, and trust me I'd let you know if you didn't. I'm 5'9 but I'm still wondering if MAYBE, just maybe, I'll still be handsome bald. You're about a head taller than me and not bad looking yourself (NO HOMO).

But if you got the cash and it's BOTHERING you go and do it, you're only young once and it's always better to be young with hair.

              Good luck

Unfortunately, working out has never worked for me. I'm naturally very thin and I don't have the time, money and patience to work out.

And girls I've been dating usually tell me how much they hate muscular guys.

It's not bothering me that much for the moment, even if I'm still using minoxidil (and I'll probably be using it until I'm slick bald).

As Spencer often says on the show, surgery is a last resort. Thank you for you contribution.

This blows. I have the same problem. I thought it would be easier to gain weight as I got older, but even at 37 my metabolism is pretty high. I do work out and have a decent amount of muscle, but if i could only put on a good 15lbs I would be happy.

Stick with the weights - it's really easy once you get into a routine and I use it as a stress relief. I'm not huge but the bench is my kingdom and it's growing. Man was it a personal achievement to finally hit 225 last month on my own! And after a year of rehab from my disc problems!

And about the girls hating muscular guys - what it comes down to for a lot of girls is they like the look of a dude who is in good shape, has definition, and is proportioned. They don't want a dude who looks like they will "skip watching a movie to get in a gym session" or a dude that looks and acts like he could rage out on them any second. Girls only want to be thrown through a wall if it's..sexual..

edit - however I have dated the type that actually wants a ****ing huge guy - they tend to be taller girls who are insecure about their height though.

Thanks for the advice, but I think and will always think lifting weights is a complete waste of my time. I hope it does not sound offensive but the only guys I've seen pushing me for working out were usually short or insecure guys who wanted to compensate for something in their physical appearance, and I don't want to become that guy.

When people say add muscle I think they might be thinking Brad Pitt Fight club. You got different looks like Brad Pitt, Greg Plitt, and Jay Culter. Brad in Fight Club was 170-175lbs (Camera might add a few??) Anyway, My point is you'll be taken more seriously if you do had some muscle to you but not to much. P90x program might work for you. I pay $200 a month for my Trainer. I do battling ropes, sand bag, kettle etc. Diet is 90% of it so if you do higher a personal trainer make sure it's more diet diet diet than anything.

I had Gyno surgery at 20-21 I forget, That stuff is way worse than hairloss. It just happens like hairloss i.e., genetics??

I started Fin at 33 and I"m on month 13 with no sides.

I was passed up on a HT when I was 24. Just wish he would have told me about Fin and rogain then. I didn't even know that there was people that specialize in HT.

I personally don't care about my hair loss but I know society does. the same as a skinny or fat person. society wants Hollywood people. I'll do my best to drop a few pounds, get a HT and work on my people skills

Interesting read and I would say it's true. Just can't be skinny or fat

Glad you did pass on the HT maybe give it another run in the 30s?

I'll probably do someday, maybe even pilofocus, who knows.

There are a lot of things you supposedly can't be. But it's often just a collective construction of the mind. You should be good looking, fit, tall, with a full head of hear, not pale, rich, intelligent and the list goes on.

A lot of people barely have one item on this list and get by in life just fine.

I woudln't get a HT if I were you. The shaved look suits you pretty good. I wish I had your hairloss pattern. The hairline makes a big difference.

Well, I've done it. Here's the topic about my recent FUE:

Hi guys, I'll give you a little feedback and a few pictures about my recent hair transplant. I hope it will be useful to some of you :). My story in short I'm 24 years old and I'm from Brussels. I started losing my hair quite aggressively at 17 in the form of DPA (diffused patterned alopecia) which means no receding hair line

From what you were saying in this thread, it looked like you weren't gonna do it.

What made you change your mind back ?
