I'm probably going to go on Propecia and I'm wondering if I should have any blood work done beforehand. Should I have by Estradiol, Free T, Total T, and DHT levels checked? My dermatologist said he never checks for those and just wanted a PSA run, so I'd have to ask my general practitioner to run these tests since my dermatologist will only do the one.
Blood work before starting Propecia?

If you're checking for the purpose of having a baseline test to compare if you start to think you're having side effects on fin, then that would be a decent idea. It won't make them stop, but it can help you see if your levels significantly were altered, or if it's mental, or if there are other problems, etc.
However, I have been advised that the way that DHT effects the follicles on the head is in such a way that using DHT tests to track the effectiveness of fin on your hair will do nothing for you really. The best test is comparing pictures and how you think your hair looks.Comment

My doc just wrote me a script for fin without recommending any blood work. Maybe because I am older(37) or maybe because he really doesn't know much about fin? So for so good though.Comment

Yeah it cant hurt but honestly its not much of a difference. If you get some problem like hormone problems or gyno there is not much of a way to fix that, but those are very rare anyways.Comment
