Is this normal? Black dots..(pics)

Hey, I've been losing my hair for the last year...Mainly diffuse, unfortunately including my sides and back as well


Do any of you have these black dots on your scalp where your hair grows out?
Does it indicate anything? Or is this just normal?

I feel like this is an insanely stupid question...so dont tear into me too much.


Aside from these dots, I'll have small redspots on my scalp(occasionally forehead as well) that are itchy.

Do the Black dots mean anything?

I feel like this is a really dumb question, but I never noticed them before. Maybe its because i have less hair now...

Your questions are not stupid. This is a place to learn about hair loss so don't beat yourself up about it. In your pics, I am not sure I am seeing what you are but the only black dots I see are hair coming out of the hair follicle. I don't see the red dots though and not sure what they would be.

Fair enough, that's what I figured. I wasnt sure if it could possibly point to a possible skin problem or maybe a signal that the hair was in the telegen/anagen phase.

Scalp is itchy as fck and hair seems to come out easily wherever the itch is located.

cs2257 maybe you should see a dermatologist some time soon if you are suffering with prominent itching of the scalp. Good luck
